Will a 3" welded straight pipe AFTER the cats, meaning no mufflers or resonators after the cats, make my engine light turn on. Searched everywhere for this answer but couldn't find anything!

bump. Nobody?

I'm pretty sure if you are using the stock cats you should be fine. why not get test types that come with the CEL fix in them?

No- although I've only seen that type of exhaust used on a race 350Z.

unless you remove your cats, and dont have the CEL fix your light will not come on, the light only comes on due to your o2 sensor.

Favi89, you will need some type of resonator to keep it from droning inside when cruising on the interstate. Other than that it'll be fine to go 3 inch from the cats to the exit. Please show us how it looks and sounds after.

Thanks for the support and answers guys. I just joined this forum and it's really a great source, so glad I did. Btw this is my first 350z and I LOVE it! I am planning on doing a 3" pipe after the stock cats with maybe a resonator to eliminate drone and prevent the rasp. Would the magnaflow x pipe do the job? Or just any old resonator?

UPDATE: Okay so I went ahead and did this setup: 2.5" pipe from catback with a magnaflow 11386 muffler. It sounds AMAZING! NO CEL on either bc stock cats are still on! I was nervous that it might sound a little tooooo quite due to the stock cats but I was wrong. Sounds nice and deep. My buddy says it sounds like a lambo :P
