Default Catalytic converter rattle ....

I have a 06 manual with 67k miles. I have been chasing this rattle on the car for a few months. Finally got it up on a lift and its the passenger side catalytic converter that is rattling. I am in California and don't want to deal with illegal high flow cats or test pipes. Anyone e know of a fix? Rattle seems to be inside and only rattles once car is warm?

Sounds like the catalyst inside is broken. Have you checked to make sure it's not the heat shield rattling?

You can either run OEM cats to stay 100% legal or if you want you can run some HFC's that can pass EPA emissions and hope none of the testig places say anything about it not having a CARB number.

Or run whatever you want, then when it's time to do a smog test swap your stockers back in.

Yeah its not the heat shield ... Its inside. Any place to get original catalytic converts? I don't want to go hi flow cat route and worry about switching them or passing inspections.

Check the classifieds on here. I'm sure someone is selling theirs from when they put on aftermarket stuff.

Hotlaprc, this forum abounds with eco-criminals who changed out the cats for test pipes as their first mod. Consequently basements and garages all over MY350 land have lots of new or low mileage 350Z converters lying around. Post a plea for a used cat and you’re sure to get lots of responses. I would suggest that the criminals could receive a degree of absolution by selling you a cat for basically the cost of shipping.

Replace the cat sooner rather then later, as a rattling cat will progress to a cat that totally breaks up. This will either plug the outlet of the cat or send shrapnel plugging up the rest of the exhaust system.

Lol ... I would gladly pay one of those "criminals" shipping costs and a few $$$ for a good original catalytic converter.

As soon as I order some ART pipes so I can be a criminal too, I'll ship you mine. They have 113k miles on them though.

Let me know if you can't find any.
