Default Headers Not Fitting

Hello, this is my first time on this forum so forgive me if this topic has been covered I tried searching but didnt find much. So I bought some headers for my z and I ran into the same problem many others online had which was the header hitting the steering rod. What have you guys done to fix that? Yes I know I should of bought better brand but they are already installed. Thanks ahead

Well first off it would help to know the brand of the headers.
Also a picture would be nice...

Only advice I have is to remove the header and bang it with a rubber end hammer.
I did this with my 66 Belair. I bought headers off of eBay and they didn't fit so I banged them and misshaped them so they could fit.

I don't think this would effect performance, it's something an ol'timer mechanic friend does alot.

Once it's banged and fits, use a new gasket if the other one is old and make sure it's down tight.
Yeah that my plan. Im also planning on fabing up some metal engine spacers to lift the motor up a bit.

Screw that, most people want to lower the motor in the chassis. It's just counter productive to installing performance parts.

My buddy's Torino has long tubes and it was having clearance issues at the collectors so we just used a torch to heat the tubes up and used a pry bar to slightly bend each one to clear.

Bend it or hit it with a hammer to clearance it.

Take off crappy headers, install OEM until you can buy quality parts.

Doesnt matter. Ebay is enough that we understand. I would use the torch and pry method over hammering on it. Probably more change of the chinese crap cracking.
