Default Single Test Pipe

I recently bought some berk res test pipes and being out in cali i cant find a shop to help me install them. I went to custom shop and they took off the passenger nut that faces towards the engine bay. They couldnt get the driver side one off. I didnt have them do anything else because they said id be fine with 2 on the passenger. Well 5 minutes down the road i get the service engine soon light. Im assuming there is a gap and an O2 sensor is reading lean. So should i go through the pain and put the bolt back on and tighten it up or will i be fine running 1 resonated test pipe? I need to make my choice fast because i leave friday and i have to drive 3500 miles.

So to sum it all up,would it be okay to have 1 cat and 1 res test pipe?

Well, the fumes are going to make you sick if nothing else.

Personally, I would ask the shop to get that 3rd bolt on and make sure there are no leaks. If they won't do it, then do it yourself. I have worked on my exhaust system countless times. It's not hard.

Don't assume anything. jack up your Z and check the header pipe connection yourself. Might be a good idea to check the what the codes are if you aren't a DIYer. You made the wrong choice to do this before a long road trip.

Do I understand you correctly, you went to a muffler shop in Cali who removed your cats and installed Berk test pipes?
I would suggest as you say, "put your other nut on". Your exhaust will become very hot, and that's not good for your nuts/ or bolts either. gl

No they put it up on a lift and were going to do it but couldnt get the driver side "devil bolt" off and would have to use heat and with it being a stainless stud they would have to melt it off. So the only thing going on is the passenger cat has 1 nut missing off the top stud, they shop was closing and they were asking $300 to do the rest of the work.

I would just go buy a few extensions and take it off yourself. I never worked on an exhaust and was able to take my cats off by just reading up on what is needed and how to do it. Took me 5 hours but if I can do it anyone can, also use lots of pb blaster.

If you were closer, I'd do it for you. Exhuast disassembly can be difficult, but a shop should never tell you they can't get parts off if you are paying.

Do some homework and if you can afford proper tools, diy. Otherwise get a better muffler shop. .02

Figured I'd do an update . Went shopping around and people were saying 400 to do it.ending up going back to the same shop they did it for 250. Sounds amazing but SES is on and it's for both 02 sensors.Which I thought berk claimed to never trip the SES light with there stuff.I'm already 30 hours into my drive and get good fuel economy so doesn't bother me.I'll have a new post soon about my oil pump so look there for more fun .thanks all for advice .

Any shop that cant get a set of cats in our cars should close their doors immediately.
