Default Kinetix plenum leaking

I understand the plenum all bark was testing had a gasket leak. Was it determined why this occured?

Did the plenum deform under stress, or did the heat warp the seal?

Just to clarify, there were 2 leaks. The first was a drilled hole which was plugged up with epoxy.

the second leak was from a gasket where the new plenum meets the bottom half.

Im just wondering if it the cause was ever discovered. This leak occured POST dyno.

did the plenum flex too much, or did it warp from heat??

Well if you didn't post bonehead replies then they would fall of the first page and you wouldn't have to deal with it in your forum. Oh, that's right. It isn't your forum.

The prototype all_bark was using did experience two leaks. The one leak was prior to any dyno and was fixed with epoxy. The other leak was due to the gasket that was provided to him by LSDUnique. As LSDUnique stated, that is not the gasket that is shipping with the plenum.

There are several things LSD could do if the plenum flexed to much and sucked in the gasket (which is not proven or anything). I think the two most beneficial additions to the design would be having the plenum screw down into the metal posts provided with the kit, raising the torque specs on the perimiter bolts, and possibly even placing metal spines on the top of the plenum.

Rest assured, LSD puts out good products. He's not going to ship a part that won't hold a seal. Be patient and I'm sure he'll fill you in when the production version is ready.

Dan

**edit** oh and the heat tolerances of that material are supposed to be very high. So I doubt it warped on the car.

iF I remember correctly, the middle posts have already been implemented to prevent the plenum from moving up or down and could be boost safe also as a result.

Yea, but I don't think the plenum screws down into them, does it? If you're familiar with the Crawford one, that is what I was thinking.

the new one WILL!

and for EVERYONES information

I removed the outer seal of the original gasket doing the second install because I did not think I needed both (second plenum had a gasket on it). I was wrong, I was supposed to have it there, not remove it so that is why the gasket leak occured.

THE PLENUM IS BADA$$. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Count again you are way off. No where near half. They are some of the most popular threads per the # of views. So it appears the majority do not agree with you.

Actually there are more about CAI/Intakes. If you don't want to read the plenum threads then don't. No need to be an *** about it.

I am not intersted in FI or NOS...guess what I don't read those.

These forums are for sharing info, hopefully in a polite manner.
