HR Y Pipe with Nismo S tune catback
Just picked up a Nismo S tune catback today.
I am debating between using one of the following y pipes. Please advise or put in review for the best combination. Budget is about 150 for the y pipe. I am trying not to delete cats. Don't really care about power gain.
1) Stock DE y pipe(My car is a 03 touring)
2) HR y pipe (Found one for 75 bucks)
3) Megan Racing Y pipe (150 shipped on ebay)
Zac

If its a cat back then its got a y pipe already / thread
FyI you need to remove some plastic pieces from your underside if you plan to use a hr Y pipe and its not going to do anything your current Y pipe doesn't do. Megan racing will work but you get what you pay for, dont be upset when it cracks the first time you bottom out at the local supermarket.
I would say xyz pipe with straight pipe... The S tune deserves a decent Y pipe.

I would go with that big stove pipe that diesel truck guys use... I almost want to get that dc sport duel exhaust because its mad cheap and im curious how it would sound.
I think the tomei would attract to much attention from the authorities.
My current exhaust system is growing on me though

You are going to want to remove that resonator and get the straight pipe.
I would do this setup for sure. You won't be disappointed. Plus, if you ever want louder, since you will have the XYZ pipe you can change out the stock cats for test pipes or HFCs and if you save the resonated pipe on the XYZ you have options to increase sound and reducing rasp.

I would only run that resonator if I had test pipes to reduce rasp.

Maybe we will have better luck this summer. Keep an eye on the Northeast section of the forum.

Guess what, I installed the set up this morning.
Sounds mild when under 4k. Its better after 4000. Maybe i need to break in the Y pipe haha? it had 1500 miles on.
And I'd definitely like a Z meet.
I used to attend NYZCC club a few years back when i had my WRX with a friend who had a 260z haha.
Has anyone been to their meet/cruise run?

Honestly since I got my R1 my bike has been my priority. I only drive my Z when I have to, such as bad weather or I need to carry stuff.
If you remove that resonator and put the straight pipe I'm sure it will change.
Check out my vid in my sig. Does you car seem to be much quieter than mine? If so that resonator is the difference.

Your camera is right by the mufflers. hard to tell the difference.
But definitely didn't hear the high pitch or "signature 350z sound" under 4k on my car. yes im pretty sure its the resonator. but im going to drive it for a while first.
