this thread reminds me while I was at a tuner shop a few weeks ago a guy comes in and asks about getting new headers. While on that subject the sales guy offers if he also wants to get an exahust. in which the customer responds, yes i do, which one's the best? the sales guys answer well Motordyne and HKS are the most expensive, then quotes the price. the customer thinks about it for less than a minute, mumbles something back to the sales guy, and the sale guys respond with well the Invidia or Tomei's a cheaper.

the moral of the story and what relates to this thread is that, do not go and ask questions until you do some research. exhaust can be as low as a few hundred dollars to as much as $6k for a full motordyne setup. Of course, the more expensive stuff sounds more expensive or else they wouldn't be in business. That doesn't mean you wouldn't be perfectly okay with the cheaper setup. Which boils down to this. It is all based on your subjective view. What is good to you? How can anyone else help you with this answer? And if you haven't done any research do it, we live in 2018 now...

Straight pipe is cheapest, loudest, most obnoxious.

I spent around $1,000 on borla catback and did resonator delete. Very happy with result. Still have stock cats, probably go high flow or just delete when more flow is needed. Sounds throaty on acceleration and normal at idle. No raspy nonsense.

I straight piped my 06 Z and yes it is loud but in my opinion it shows the true sound of the Z's/G's. It does drone in the cabin a bit, but in cold weather it's hardly noticeable.

I have HFC's and a full Tru-Dual system w/silencers and the rumble is still pretty intense. No drone, no rasp; and still thinking about installing Dynamat.

Heres a couple clips of my setup. Stock cats for now, resonator delete, borla tru-dual. Very little little drone and cops dont bother me.
You can find a crap ton of straight pipe audio clips on youtube.

I love my current setup. AAM test pipes, Motordyne XYZ and Nismo S-Tune Catback.

Not too loud at regular driving and screams at WOT.

If I wanted loud, I would go Tomei without a doubt. Just sounds so sexy. Now that I have the Ram as a daily, I might eventually make the switch to Tomei. Then again, if I want loud, I go on my Ducati. SC Project titanium exhaust is ear bleeding loud. Once started my bike at a gas station and the woman next to me jumped while pumping her gas and got fuel all over the side of her car. I felt really bad haha.

For daily driving I can't figure out how people deal with straight pipes. I've got Crawford High Flow Cats with an Indvidia Gemini cat back exhaust and it drones enough. There is no rasp however. I'm sure many would consider this setup to be "mild" but the Z is already a loud car so making louder seem silly to me. I just wanted a deeper, more mellow sound and pretty much got that.
