Default merlin holly intake 350z

Surfing around a couple nights ago i found Merlin machining. They had come up with a new intake system for the DE using the ls efi intake manifold. Thought would post it here to see what everyone is thinking. Dyno numbers don't seem real imo considering car is stock with manifold and ls tb only. 270whp.

Looks amazing! I always wondered why Nissan never designed an intake in this manner and instead had the piping to basically a 180 into the plenum.

Looks good, I like the power band but that wouldn't fit under the hood lol

Clearing the front of the hood with the timing chain case. I'm surprised they didnt do something over the driver's side valve covers ... (I'm brewing ideas on this) ...

nice find Rusty ... is there a price point?

FWIW, Nismo race engine intake boxes still go to the rear although a much better design than factory. Having a 90 degree bend at the TB doesn't make much sense either

So far only seen a couple mentions of possible price on their FB page. Looking at the dates this is real recent starting development around july last year. Doubt anyone has purchased 1 yet. Also don't see a store front. Did find his business in wilmington NC.

I can only assume this wasn't their first choice and they were restricted (ha! no pun intended) by other constraints that forced this decision.

That's one of them, I'll try to find the one I was taking about later. Essentially it's ITBs topped with a CF box that's like a HR plenum but bigger and without TBs.

Totally, there is no perfect setup for these engine bays that doesn't involve dual TBs. I wish someone would just make a bolt on dual TB manifold. It was done back in the day in Japan when the car was new and they ran dual TBs on the DE

I'll look it up on Facebook, The dude is going to make a complete setup. He doesn't have a price yet, but you will have to modify or get a new hood.

Can you give some more info in regards to the AFE intake? Was this with a bigger MAF housing?

Can you get more in depth on the velocity stack? I didn't see it for sale on your website.

What options do we have for hood fitment? Looks like a hole might need to be cut.

Do you think there would be any weight savings compared to the stock setup?

Found this:

Might fit better under the hood and still flow pretty good (but maybe better?)

I dont have details on the intake/maf setup.

the vstacks are 3d printed test units to test any real world gains. The dyno shown with vstacks had some air leaks between ports from a design flaw so we need to retest that.

The HR hood with trimming or the fly1 motorsports hood is your best option. I have not cut the hood on a car yet.

The carbon upper is basically weightless and there is alot less aluminum on the car. So yes some weightloss is expected.

The entire point of this conversion is to be as cheap, versatile, simple, cost effective dollar/hp and visually stunning as possible.

any Holley hiram upper can be used. Yes the side mount ford versions will bolt on and i can support you with extra parts
Needed. Thats another pro for using this setup. There are air to water upper plenums and super low profile billet options available too with new options daily

I like the looks of the velocity stacks and I think overall they dyno’d better too. Do you think there would be any benefit to staggering the length of the stacks similar to the OEM nonrevup lower plenum? Or is the even possible without too much extra work?
