We have decided to go ahead with a revision to the plenum that will allow a much higher torque rating on the main flange bolts.
We have had a few customers had cracking problems due to over tightening . While we ourselves never had this problem when we did the install several times on our own car, I have come to understand that their isnt enough margin of error.
People having problems with the installation is not acceptable and we believe this product should be able to be installed by the average "do it your selfer".
We want to feel completely confident in our product, which we were when we sent them out, but we have lost some our confidence in its ease of installation. The plenum can be installed succesfully the way it stands, but people should not have to worry about the difficulty of the install or the longevity of the product.
Our revision includes a threaded shoulder insert in each flange hole, which is also adhered in as well as threaded in. This coupled with the shoulder in which the bolt clamps down on should give us at least twice the torque capabilities. We will finalize numbers and give a new torque rating.
We have postponed todays shipment of plenums, so I apologize if I told you that it was shipping today, but we made the decision to take action now, and give peace of mind to our customers. This will push us back about 2 days.
I want tp sincerely apologize to people who have already received our plenum and have had problems, or are worried about problems. If you are satisfied with the install and everything works well for you, I leave the decision up to you whether you want your plenum updated.
We are offering to pay for shipping expenses back to us, where we will update the plenum with inserts free of charge. Also, if you experienced any cracks, we will take care of that as well. We are updating our mold to get rid of some casting imperfections in the interior of the plenum. We will also smooth out these imperfections, make sure your gasket is in good condition and replace if necessary. We will make these plenums are a top priority and we have already scheduled late hours to offer a 1-2 day turnaround where they will be shipped back to you.
I personally apologize for any inconvenience this may cause or have caused to you. Also note that if your plenum is installed succesfully, you may choose to not send it back, but that will not change the fact that you are entitled to the offer at any time down the road. So you can choose to leave it installed, and if problems arise later, then we will still pay to ship your plenum back, get updated, and shipped back to you with the same priority.
We had some small issues with a couple different things, like too much sealant and coolant block problems. With so many variables in the production, those 2 mistakes slipped through on our first batches, we apologize and you can be assured that issues are addressed promptly. These are our mistakes. Our production at this point is running very smoothly.
So while this update may cost us a small chunk of change, and increase the overall production costs of future plenums, I want to say that we do stand behind our products 100%. I take customer satisfaction personally and while there are only about 20 plenums out there without inserts, I want to make sure every one of those customers is happy.
Anyone with questions or details for getting their plenum updated please email me at jamisonl@msn.com
If you have not received your plenum yet, be assured the one you receive will be worry free.

sorry, I have the hardest time associating emails with my350z.com screen names. I have responded to your email.
** if your plenum is on its way, the fastest and easiest way for us to get your plenum is to simply refuse the package.
If you cant refuse the delivery, or already have a plenum that needs the revision, then please email me at jamisonl@msn.com

lsdunique, I already emailed you about potential revisions and you assured me that this would be taken care of. I want to thank you for offering nothing but the best product to all of us. I for one am willing to wait a little while to make sure that I will have no problems in the future.

Steven Krohn.

Just a comment I didn't need a safety to prevent the cracking, I took a ton of time torquing it down carefully half a turn at a time but could not get rid of a leak so I had to keep torquing it down and it started to crack and still had a leak, which I ended up putting some sealant which seems to have fixed it for now we will see.
Installation complete! This Plenum is awesome. Mine arrived at the front door within minutes of me reading "Isduniques" apology. With OEM stuff laying a over the garage floor, decided to proceed after telephone communications with Kinetex. Given the current apology thread, why not.
Followed instructions by all_bark and Chris to the letter. Went to Sears and bought the $69 torque wrench as per recommended in a previous thread. Even incorporated recommendations I received from Robert at Kinetex. I was patient! NO leaks! NO cracks! Nothing but increase in ponies per "butt dyno". Sound is AWESOME! Will give it a thorough workout tomorrow.

A little tip I used to get a consistent pressure around the flange to get a good seal, is to tighten them down incrementally, going around several times. If one section is torqued down completely, it may make a neighboring section harder to create a seal. If I had problems sealing a section, I would first loosen the surrounding bolts, then start at the center of the leak and work my way out.
If you continue to have problems, please, I insist you let me update your plenum with the inserts.

I don't anyoneelse has taken as much time as I have tightening down, I was so paranoid about cracking it, I must have started and turned the car of 10 times checking for leaks.
