Each to his own here, sorry I think rtv is messy, and i don't really want to have to scrape it all back off if i need to go back to the stock plenum. I'm glad to see that everyone seems to be happy with the plenum, just might not be the right plenum for me.

Regarding the sealant, I think the pics above are really just high-temp silicone sealant/gasket maker. I used some 999 on my exhaust h-pipe.
vfr350,
I understand your point, but I cannot agree. To offer you more evidence that this type of action is common, go take a close look at your engine. You will instantly notice little bits of gray silicone sticking out from aluminum on aluminum joints in the engine. That is silicone gasket. If Nissan uses it and you are ok with that, then why are you not ok with it on your plenum? Its is not even required either. Some people are just using it to be safe. I used it on my Borla h-pipe to be safe. I just didn't want to have to remove the h-pipe in case of a leak. When I install the plenum, I will likely do the same thing.

Okay vfr350, it seems that you have three options.
1) Get the version 2 plenum, which you've already paid for and don't use any sealant. We expect with 99% confidence that this will be sufficient.
2) Get the version 2 plenum and add a small bead of high-temp silicon just to give yourself the extra piece of mind.
3) Try to cancel your order, wait for a refund and then spend an extra $200+ and get the Crawford. Obviously you are concerned with returning to stock or scraping off a gasket wouldn't have come up in your previous post. So, you will need to purchase a core for Crawford.
If you feel that the extra 1% of piece of mind or a "messy" five minutes of work is worth $200, then maybe option three is for you.
