Making the right header decision
I'm considering the DC headers which are ceramic coated (at least it appears). Being that Exhaust with Turbo is extremely hot is this the right way to go given this possible future mod?

The turbo kits come with their own Headers so you wont need this mod if you plan to go with a turbo in the near future..As far as DC headers..Not sure on the quality or performance, but anything is better than the stock manifold..

your looking at 400+ plus for labor (atleast we charge 400 and we are a dealer)...
ceramic headers will eventually currode... you dont want to go changing your headers because your installed chipped the coating and you have to replace your header the next year from the salty air...
so if you are going to do a header atleast do stainless steel...

When considering ceramic coatings there are two types to choose from:
CERMACHROME which is a polished aluminum finish, rated to 1300 degrees, more resistant to scrathces, chips and oxidation, but prone to fading if the temp reaches 1300 degrees. (The oxidizing point for aluminum)
Satin ceramics which are typically flat finishes, available in many colors and rated to 2000 degrees, as they do not contain metal flake. They are a thinner coating more prone to scratches and chips but typically will not fade or discolor.
Stainless steel has its place in fabrication, depending on the type of course. 321 is te best and really should be the only choice for headers and exhaust because of its thermal properties and flexibility. 304, which almost every header manufacture uses, is the worst choice for headers because it becomes very brittle when heated. Thus it becomes prone to cracking. But, it is relatively cheap, polishes nice and has been marketed to death by the large corporations.
Though we do not like using 304, demand has proven to out-weigh our stance. No matter how much information we have given to customers, some still prefer to have their products built in 304 stainless.
Just do your resarch and make the best informed choice you can.

FYI that we ahve sold the DC ceramic coated units for years now with the Honda's and have never had an issue.
Trust me when I tell you you will sell your car before having to replace the header.
But if you are doing turbo, do not buy any headers at all - they will be useless to you regardless of what kit you get as all the kits come with their own (needed to mount the turbos/wastegates)
