Default Breather Air Filter?

Does anyone know what these things are for and if they would do anything for the vq engine? Click here to see

It's just an oil breather. Instead of routing the PCV lines to the plenum you hook up that filter instead.

It will help the idle be a little smoother, but other than that. No real advantage.

Just instaled my Injen CAI and was bummed to find out that the breather tube was relocated to blow out crap in front of the MAF sensor. This item with the filter might be an easy way to fix that prob. ???

These are illegal in areas that require emmissions testing. you CANNOT vent any of your fumes to the atmosphere. All exhaust / fumes / ventilation must be contained and routed back into the engine. I'm not up on all the laws, but this might even be a federal emmissions mandate now.
