Kinetix Cracking Poll (Revised, V3 Only)
I recently started a thread concerning the number of Kinetix plenums that have cracked. Most people have found fault in the poll I used in that it doesn't differentiate between Versions 1, 2, and 3 of the plenum. Since Version 3 is the only relavent version for people considering the plenum, I decided to create this revised poll which is only for Version 3's. This way everyone can get a good idea of how reliable Version 3 is and we can decide if it is reliable enough to try on our own cars.

I'm very disappointed to say that I need to change my vote. I was showing my car to a friend yesterday and there it was. A crack in my V3, right at the front support. I'm really disappointed because the sound alone this mod provided was worth it. I couldn't have been happier with the performance before it cracked. I had almost 1,000 miles since my install. I sent an e-mail to them and now we'll see about the legendery customer service.

STOP THE PRESSES!
I just got in touch with Kinetix and after a brief conversation it appears that I have Version 2. They will be sending me a new Version 3 right away! I'm not sure how I got a V2 because I received mine after the changes were made but, Kinetix responded quickly. I can't wait to put the new one on!

My case is exactly like the story above:
Had a V2 which the front suport had cracked the plastic just this last Saturday (prob. had about 1000mi too~ 3 weeks of driving)
emailed KX-- they are sending me a new one as early as Wed!!!
Unbelievably good and fast customer service!!!
I have faith in V3!!!

got mine in tonight. fitment was about the same: crappy. the older support posts fell apart during the uninstall; the studs were stuck into the lower plenum. got those out with some ingenuity though (not me). cork gasket looked horrible on the old one, too. i don't know about this mod anymore, but it's on and i really don't feel like messin with it again. if this starts leakin or cracks, i'm done with the kinetix plenum. the big thing for me is the fitment; totally atrocious. new versions to fix problems r great, but i wish the whole thing could b better. mayb i ask for too much; dunno.

I have tha odd crackling noise too, i think its just the way the plenum is since you have it too. Its around 3k rpm, sounds like a raspiness which comes on all of a sudden.

it's hard to explain the sound, and u can't hear it that good unless the windows r up. almost like a gear-grinding sound, but definitely not that. i'll see what a couple people think around here. if i have to take it off though, it's off for good.
