Default Jim Wolf/ Nismo Intake Hybrid

Has anyone added a JWT Popchrger to the upper intake piping of a nismo intake? I don't think I'm all that happy with my Nismo intake. Thinking about using JWT now, but I like the look of the Nismo intake.

You can do it. I know people who have done it with Injen and AEM intake tubes. Nismo is basically the same. It should look good. I thought about doing it myself because I have a black Crawford plenum.

alininger, may i ask why you dont like your nismo intake? i have the stock jwt and my car stalls, its unacceptable, i cant jeopardize my passenger like that in a performance car that is driven hard. but i love the sound and thrills. does the nismo intake produce a comparable sound (at least in volume?) did you have any stalling issues?
thanks! J

You shouldn't stall with the JWT... EVER! And all intakes sound pretty much the same. I have had both AEM and JWT.

youre right, shouldnt but did. tried four or five times to turn over and it would go a bit then stall again. right in the rush hour traffic, bus lane and all. no fun! the posts about stalling at 70+mph, wow. i feel worried about the possibility of putting my passengers under risk for my own self-serving interest. i know many things can go wrong on the car but i'd prefer to err on the side of full confidence. so may i ask how you folks liked the CAI's? are there any stalling issues? any one you reccomend? why do people switch from CAI to JWT?

I personally can't imagine how the JWT pop-charger would make a car stall. I can understand there being a problem with the MAF and that causing someone to stall.

People switch from CAI to JWT or similar pop-charger designs for many reasons. Some people are worried about sucking in water, others have seen that a full CAI does not make a difference on the dyno as far as horsepower is concerned. The JWT is less than half the price for the same, if not better performance .(depending on who you ask) It is definitely a lot easier to get to the JWT when you need to clean the filter. My $0.02!

No stalling issues once so ever. It does give the car a nice sound and it lloks great. Worrying about sucking up water is ridiculous. The filter sits 5.5 inches off the ground. If you were in that much water it would be in the floorboards. If you're in that deep your car would be flooded anyway! I have a sneaking suspision I am losing power b/c of it, maybe I'm just crazy. I have a nismo intake with a borla td. I get beat at the track with cars with just a JWT, I couldn't even produce stock times.

Is it possible to leave the stock airbox, but replace the stock platic tube with an aluminum NISMo (or similar) one, for more acustical resosnance...IE, to sound cooler.

Yes it would, the filter probably affects the sound the most though, I think a high flow cone filter inside something like the stock airbox would work good.

alininger2001,
People have sucked up water. Imagine this... a big puddle, a splash, stuff happens, it is hardly ridiculous. I am sure if you did a search, someone on this board has had it happen to them.
