My Injen straight tip is comin in on monday and i was wondering if anyone has installed them and how long it took. I dont have a lift so i will have to use jackstands, so ill be working with it about 5 inches from my nose. anyone else install theirs without a lift? if so, how long did it take and how hard was it?

I installed mine with jackstands in about 1.5 hrs. The install is straight forward. The kit comes with directions with pics. Overall its a pretty easy install. Most of the time of the install involves getting the car up to work with.

I did angled tip. but it took me an hour to figure out how to get it up on 2 jacks and 2 stands(with me willing to go under it) and another hour to put the exhaust on.

Real easy. It took me longer to jack the car up and remove the old. Should take only about 45 min. after that. Sounds great. You will get looks and not because they think your car sounds like a Civic. It sounds like an old muscle car.

Actual install was easy. But mine didn't come with any of the bolts or gaskets, and I was too impatient to wait for those to arrive seperately (although my vendor did a GREAT job of getting onto InJen for my incomplete exhaust), so making trips to the autoparts store, making gaskets, and making that piece that bolts up between the two pipes took more time.

The stock exhaust is a ***** to get off the factory hangers. Even with wd40, its a little tough getting it off. If you have an extra hand to help you, your install will be a lot easier.

I just removed the entire bracket that holds the grommet for the stock hangars...it was much easier that way for me, because I couldn't get the hangars out for the life of me lol.

My install took me 1.5 hours total. I put the rear end up on ramps and then jacked the front up and put under the jack stands. The factory exhaust came off easily - even the hangars were no problem with WD40. My Z only has 4K miles on her - might have something to do with the easy hangars.

Install was very straightforward. Much easier than the flowmasters I've put on a couple of Mustangs. I was very surprised how easy it was. Did the job with no help - too impatient to wait for anyone else.

Drive to work this morning was a blast. Thanks to Dave D@ActiveTuning for turning me on to these.

Well, my install wasn't so easy (jackstands are the easy part at 5 min total)... I first sprayed down the bolts and hangars with WD40, then went to work on the muffler bolts. Two required some muscle, but the third without the ground was a ***** to get off. Why? It was threaded on crooked! Good job Nissan! I then fiddled with the hangars with no luck, those suckers won't budge. I don't know how D@ActiveTuning unbolted the hangar brackets, because one is behind part of the bumper and I can't even see it. So I decided to move to the mid-pipe bolts. Unfortunately, this is where I had to stop. Even with a 6pt. socket, I still managed to strip the nut round. So no I'm going to have to take it to somebody to have the ****er cut off.

This is not the first time I've had problems stripping Nissan nuts and bolts. All I have to say is that the quality of the metallurgy of the nuts and bolts that they use is substandard. And if I can strip these things, then you know there's a problem (I'm very slender with little muscle mass). Looks like I'll have to flush $75 down the toilet to have somebody install it for me... I'm pretty flustered, as this will be the second time I've had to have somebody do wrenching for me besides the installation of the roll bar. The other thing was the test pipes, as I had problems with those nuts too...

John, who feels like he failed and is pretty pissed off...

John, to me it sounds like you are not using metric tools.

All I used was a 14mm socket. I'm not that dumb. Hell, I don't even own any standard tools...

In order to get the hangers off completely, I had to move the plastic piece out of the way that's blocking it. It's like 2-3 10mm bolts...

Injen provides illustrations on what to do with the stock hangars.

As for my exhaust, I have over 24K miles, about 10% of which are track miles. Maybe all the heat fused the nut to the bolt...

Where do you get your track time John. I live in Odenton, MD, near Ft Meade. I wouldn't mind putting my Z on a track sometime soon.

Closest one is in Summit Point out towards Winchester. I also go to VIR near Danville VA, and a few other out of the area like Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen. While I haven't been to them, there are two in PA: BeaveRun and Pocono.
