Well, which K&N are you talking about? The drop in filter or the complete intake system? The popcharger will give you a little more performance and alot more sound. The K&N drop in won't sound any different but you might get better gas mileage and some performance.

please do, kopo. i guess i was referring to the complete system, i had the drop in on my 99' prelude, it was whatever. I never had a complete system and from the past threads. it seems like a good bang for the buck...

The K&N stock replacement filter does nothing.

I was thinking about the pop-charger, but I'm going to purchase a GReddy TT kit next year, and they're not compatible, so I think I'll save my $$$ and stick with stock for now.

both will do a marvelous job of removing 6-20 torque, in real numbers. nobody or their daddy can even begin to think about proving otherwise.

...it will sound a slight bit louder though, and you will know it's there. the result: your rice receptors become extremely pleased. that's a serious performance mod, son.

and just as an FYI:

horsepower means almost absolutely nothing in terms of the car moving faster from 0-60. in reality, torque measures that.

so...

increased HP numbers with a little less torque= slower.

wow that statement could not be more incorrect.

you are essentially saying a car with 500lbs/ft and 190 hp would be faster than a car with 500hp and 190 lbs/ft?

:shakeshead:

no, but thanks for the assist.

i'm talking about swapping out the intake system.

...does doing that action cause the numbers you posted? guess not.

what i was saying, for the learning disabled:

lets say, for example, you had WHATEVER power ratings stock.

switch out the air intake to gain 10 hp, but lose 7 torque... you will be slower 0-60. the greater number in HP does not make a difference when losing considerable torque. ...this is a widely accepted fact that's proved by many people's experiences, dynos, and 1/4 times. if you and the 350z community need help in realizing that, i don't mind walking you through it. ...even if you lose sight of the subject at hand and make extremely retarded examples or statements. i'm just here to help.

Where did you get the info or the dynos that state the popcharger lowers torque and please give a link if possible.

Hey sausage5000, about the rice receptors! I couldn't help it if i could, after eating rice for about 27 years, i can handle it (i'm korean btw) but yea i know what you're saying, didn't know that it would lower tourque tho. I just wanted to up the gas mileage and power of the car not friggin downgrade. Does that go the same for the popcharger as well? I wanted to get the vanity plate that read "GOTRICE" but someone beat me to it, now it's hopefully going to be "KIMCHEE" PS... is it bad to hate haters? didn't want to upstart a riot, ya know! PEACE and thanks for all the responses.

i ain't hating yo. believe me, i use "rice" in the current vernacular; it has nothing to do with race.

the info i provided is the result of reading many many posts from a few forums by people who have modified their intake and/or exhaust.

the result from what i have seen, all dynos posted by people with a modified intake or exahuast shows at least some low end torque loss. The only exception i have seen proven is the nismo exhaust.

mods can't be disproven by someone like me, but quite the contrary. they need to be supported and proven to be effective by an assortment of people with different operating environments. if that can't be done, that's what proves they suck. that point is where we currently stand.

sorry of any part of my posts sounded harsh. i usually get ignored when i state my feelings. the fact is: if the dyno that proves a nice torque curve with the mods in question existed, someone would post it. i want to help everyone realize that most of the intake and exhaust mods availble are not an improvement. it sux, but oh well; sometimes reality does suck.

I installed the K&N Typhoon SR CAI, here's the deal...You don't notice a whole lot on the low end (unless your rolling in 1st gear, then its big), The biggest difference is in the higher RPM's...the engine is definitely louder but not ridiculous. You will notice a "sucking" sound, but the engine roar drowns that out when you're on it (I am indifferent to it, some love it)...when you shift during normal driving it sounds like a mini waste gate...not so much of a whistle as it is a hiher pitched pffftp type sound.

Kimchee is AWESOME!!! I love it. I had a Korean roomate when I lived in Rome. He made that stuff all the time for me and the other roomates.

Here ya go sausage head: Subbing 10HP and 7ft/lb of torque for 10ft/lb of torque and 7 HP wont make much difference either way. As far as losing 6-20 ft/lb of torque from either a K&N or Popcharger, you couldnt be more wrong.

im going to interupt this hating for a sec and tell u about my install...

car doesnt really feel faster at all, there is no crispier throtle response. car does sound a lot better at higher rpms.

in general im sure something was gained in combination with other mods, but its not noticable enough to tell taht it really works

You're absolutely WRONG

Who's your daddy, who's your daddy

Here's a dyno from an Altima w/ Pop charger (w/ torque):
