Ben, I have the Helix test pipes on my car with stock exhaust. The exhaust is very raspy from around 2500 to about 4000 RPMS. I can live with the sound for the said performance increases. It is definitely louder than stock. If you can deal with the raspy sound and louder exhaust, spend the $170 +/- and get the test pipes. My Helix test pipes fit perfectly up to the OEM headers and exhaust.

I have the RT cats on my stock exhaust and even they have a slight rasp but there is a definate change in volume. Sounds good though.
Im getting La Bree test pipes with resonators .I have RT cats that are gutted because they collapsed , so I gutted them and put them back on....raspy..before..raspy after

I have the Kinetix cats on the stock exhaust. It sounds just like stock except that it's just slightly louder, has just barely more growl and maybe it's 1/4 octave lower in pitch. There is no rasp at all. A casual observer/passenger would not notice much difference from stock.
It gives the engine more throttle response and slightly more power throughout the RPM range--that's definitely what it feels like to me. I think it's a good mod and I'm glad I did it.

Have the Kinetix cats + JIC Y Pipe w/ stock exhaust. No problem.

I'd go with either Kinetix or Crawford. I think that they're both made by Magnaflow, though not positive.
You can do the job yourself, but you'll need to be somewhat of a contortionist. On each cat, one of the 3 bolts that fastens to the header/downpipe really needs to be accessed from the engine bay--in other words, I bought maybe 3 feet of extensions for the socket wrench to reach down and loosen up that bolt. You'll also need a univerasal joint at the end due to the off-angle of the bolt. Also be sure that you have the proper wrench to fit the Oxygen sensor--either the sensor wrench, a deep socket or if you're lucky, an open end wrench.
I suggest that you jack up the car, put the jack stands under the frame area and then crawl around under there to see if you are fine with trying it.
I did it on another car and it took a couple of hours. On my car I brought it to a good mechanic and it took them less than an hour and they charged $75. It seemed worth it to me.

I've been trying to find out the exact same thing. but it's hard because people who get test pipes wouldn't have stck exhaust in the first place...

Well I am having my Kinetix Cats shipped to me now and I will be making before/after sound clips with my stock exhaust.

let you guys know when I get it!

i accessed everything from underneath the car with very little effort given the right tools...no lift or air tools required...install took about an hour and a half...its definately do-able yourself

Yup. Can be done. Sounds like you know what you're doing, though it's mainly a question of working in a very confined area under the car.

I will be hosting a GB on the Kinetix high flow cats/ test pipes in the coming week. Chances are we would be able to gret about a $50 or more discount. I am obligated to do this due to a large discount on one of their products so keep looking at the forum for details as they come to me.

You'd better do about 3 weeks of Finger Yoga in preparation.
