Default JWT Popcharger equals bad gas mileage.

Because now I must keep the car between 4000 and 6600 RPM's for the intoxicating sound.

It just sounds awesome.

Is it faster?? Who knows, never dynoed, don't care, but it sounds sweet with WOT at 4000+ RPM's.

Best $109 ever spent, (unless you count that hooker in.......... just kidding)

It looks sweet too.

Install: The heat shield screws were hell, I have stubbies and crooked L shaped, smaped, screwdrivers, still a major pain in the ***.

NO stalling, NO CEL light, just beautiful sound and I think a little better performance, but who knows.

Well worth it, injen, AEM, a big waste.

Popcharger is the way to go intake wise.

Yes, Either a Popcharger or stay with LM filter.

This is purely your opinion since the Injen has been shown to be a better intake for power gains. I agree the AEM is junk, who would put the air intake filter where no good air flow occurs?? Many people think the stock box is also a very good intake design, but not on my car. It may be the extensive mods that I already have, I don't know, but I do know on the street/strip the Injen kicks a$$.

The Injen does open up the sound, whether its the same as the Popcharger I don't know. I would imagine they are more similar than different though.

Now see, I thought that this was a serious thread based on the title. I know that ever since I installed my popcharger my gas mileage has been for crap. I love the sound and performance gains, but is it possible that it's actually eating up the gas mileage as well?

Doubtful that it's using more fuel on an equivalent basis. If anything it'll cause the engine to run slightly leaner and use less fuel overall.

ok, so your basing your opinion on sound alone....i guess whatever floats your boat....what is your basis for saying that AEM and Injen are a big waste

I thought the same thing back 5 years ago (jokingly) when I put an intake on my integra GSR...

I thought to myself... "man this thing made my gas mileage suck... oh, wait.... I guess it's b/c I'm always flooring it now!"

Everyone was so hyped about the sound of the popcharger. Then I changed out my AEM cai. To my dissappointment, they both sound the same. Nothing different in sound and performance.

I only get the whistle with the jwt under moderate acceleration. WOT there is no whistle at all. However the engine is louder, "throatier", above 5k. Is this what you guys are experiencing?

Yes it's the throatier sound that I love.

The whistle is quiet and irrelevant to me.

I think AEM and Injen stink because they are double the price and have PROVEN to harm perfromance by at least 10 people on this board.

I don't know who what or where, but we all read it in the past on this board, that said, I think the Injen looks real nice.

On our cars, I don't think any intake is making much difference, I just like the sound and the looks of JWT.

Thought it looked "okay: in the pictures, in person it looks GREAT.

Does anyone have the pro-1 intake? I have the jwt popcharger but would like to change the plastic upper intake pipe with a polished one, and was wondering if this would fit? I know the injen one would work but those cost $200+

I have a 2004 roadster and all I have to say is that after adding the pop charger I was like OH MY GOD! For $120 it was the closest thing to adding another cylinder that I could imagine. At the same time I did the engine grounding kit and the two combined gave me more kick and pull than I ever expected. The sound of the JWT is awesome--I just can't wait for my Stillen exhaust and high flow cats now!!! And no--it's just not the sound that makes a difference--it's an absoultely noticable feel--the JWT is absolutely the best bang for your buck!!!

it is louder, but i don't think it works significantly better than the stock oe air box, it just gets heat soaked, i've felt it after a few runs and its hot, compared to the stock airbox, its a lot cooler,

you're just buying it for the whistle sound and louder roar on higher rpms

i took my mine off because of stalling problems, and got full refund, glad to have stock airbox back

Hey man, I got the same problems. I originally thought that the popcharger itself was causing my mpg to go down but then after a few days I started noticing that I was no longer shifting at 4000RPM. Instead, I was shifting at 5500 RPM for no other reason than to simply to enjoy that intoxicating sound at WOT.

I'll bet that you can't beat my gas mileage:

Before the popcharger: 12.5 mpg (90% city driving)
After the poprcharger: 10.5 mpg

Boy this car is getting expensive! I spent over $300 last month feeding this monster.

Gotta play to play!

honestly, i think ive heard more people complain about the jwt intake as opposed to the injen one. I was so close to buying the pop-charger, but then i found the jwt problem thread...is it really worth it?
