Loktite + KINETIX plenum bolts = Pucker Factor 10!
Yes use hex "Cap head" heads and Locktite. Note the Crawford Plenum comes with Cap heads and pre-applied locktite (the best solution). The extra surface area of the cap helps with retention force when torqued down.

THAT really sucks. Hex heads are definitely the answer.
How bad will it be to get mine off when it comes time?!?!?!

*If* you ever do though, I would hope that you don't have the same problem that I did.
I got a new gasket yeaterday and was able to put the stock plenum back on and discovered something very interesting....
There is NO noticible decrease in power with the stock plenum over the KINETIX plenum now!!
In fact I will go as far as to say that the car feels a little quicker now that the stock plenum is on. My only assumption is that because the KINETIX plenum was cracked, it was running worse that the stock plenum so by simply putting the stock one back on, even though it doesn't have the same air volume as the KINETIX, it runs better because it's not cracked?? I don't know for sure, but all I will say is that my car is running better now with the stock plenum than it has in MONTHS!!
I should hopefully get my V4 tomorrow and then I'll see for sure if there is a noticible increase by putting it on over the stock.

Woo Hoo!!
My wife just called to let me know that she got the Plenum delivered today rather than tomorrow so I guess that in addition to the GReddy eManage install I'm doing tomorrow, I'll be installing yet another Plenum.
. I hope to GOD that this is the last time :fingers crossed:

Chris,
Glad to hear!
I was actually going to suggest you to just pick it up from them directly since they're in Costa Mesa? Let us know if the power is restored with the 'non cracked' Plenum vs. your stocker.
Also, please keep me updated w. the eManage gig.
May I also suggest the following besides using a torque wrench? Slowly torquing them down in the specified order (skipping the center ones) in 3 or more rounds. Oh ... and take it easy with the 'red' thread-lock would ya.
Good Luck!

I'll definitely let everyone know if I notice a power increase. One thing that I can say I do miss is the growl that it makes. With the stock plenum back on I can't even tell that the engine is running

Sorry to give you the bad news but my v4 is much less noisier than either the v2 or v3 were which suits me just fine.. On the up side I dont notice any loss in performance over the earlier versions.. This model is stronger and does not flex nearly as much as the others..
Hi, what were the bolt specs?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have to agree with jpc350 on this. I installed the V4 on Saturday and it is significantly quieter than the previous versions. I also used the hex head bolts for the inside of the plenum (they are 10mm X 12 zachcrosen). The growl is still there, but it is toned down quite a bit. The other thing that I noticed was that the plenum does not flex nearly as much as the previous versions and the location that it does flwx has changed. The plenum now flexes outward directly where the word KINETIX is on the plenum! It really doesn't make sense to me that the plenum flexes out since the engine is sucking in but seeing is believeing. It looks like the new integrated center support has done the trick. It feels very solid now.
I must also retract my previous statement about not feeling much different when I took off the V2 KINETIX plenum and put the stock one back on. There is a HUGE increase with the V4 KINETIX plenum. All I can assume is that because of the cracks in the V2, it actually performed worse than the stock plenum so by taking it off and putting the stock one back on, it felt faster. However with the new uncracked V4 plenum... it is FAST again!
I also had my stock exhaust resonator cut out and replaced with 2 1/4" pipe. Sounds NICE now!!!
I started the wiring for the GReddy eManage, but was only able to get about 2/3 of the wiring done before I had to take off. I won't be able to do anything on it today, but I should get it all wired up and test it out tomorrow. I'll start a new thread when I do.
