No real sounds different... or rough idling... I was just checking the installation while it was idling, because I installed it two days prior and was just doing a visual when I noticed the crack... then to make sure applied water to see if it got ingested in the crack......

My version 4 is still in the box aswell, i guess i wont be placing it on my car. I have had every version and they all have cracked on me, and i really am getting tired of taking it off and replacing it. Looks like i will be getting a refund.

This is not good. I got my v4 replacement this week, but I haven't installed it yet. I was looking forward to the added power however I'm not sure if it's worth it now. It is a royal pain in the a** to be switching plenums all of the time.

damn it, I was really optimistic on this one - however, I have over 1000 miles on mine from 4 weeks of driving... I'm really happy with it, and will be until the day I see the dreaded crack... I'm with whoever said to replace all the plastic plenums w/ aluminum ones (+ cash for the difference) - I pretty much bought this one "just for the time being" until the aluminum one came out and was thoroughly tested... all I know is that I'm sick of having to check my plenum everyday for fear of a crack...

Wow, I just don't get how people keep going for more, and you guys that check your plenum on a daily or weekly basis, how horrible is that! I wouldn't want to buy a product that I had to babysit everytime I drive it. I guess some people never learn?

same design? no. similair obviously, as they all are. just better; and aluminum; itll work with the stock strut bar for sure. and hopefully the same price. details and prototype pics will be out in 2-3 weeks. should have them out to a few select members to test; along with dynos about 3-4 weeks after that.

WAIT!!!! , I could be wrong, though I am VERY confident that I am not wrong. THIS IS NOT A CRACK!!!!!

This was posted in an earlier post because a user had the same question, this is a mold imperfection!!!

I have had people thinking that the "plate" is a metal plate reinforcemnt for structure purposes molded into the plastic, then expanding with heat and cracking there, not true!!

There are no metal inserts.

I have taken 3 pictures of a brand new plenum I unwrapped after reading this post with the imperfection, and yes it looks like a crack, but it is not. The imperfection is also coincidentally .... 2.25" long ( took a picture with a measureing tape.

Please dont jump to conclusions yet.

Also a crack in this region would almost be impossible!! We have literally smashed this section with a sledge hammer, and the frontal center section is bar far the strongest section of the plenum.

The "beading" of your water is because we armorall the plenums before they go out, though it likely does not penetrate into the mold imperfection, giving the hint that it may be a crack, because it looks like a crack too!!

If most of you would check, you will see the mold imperfection. Even if you have a new one sitting in your house, check and you will likely see the imperfection.

I will be posting pics in a few minutes as soon as I switch computers.

Can you blame him for thinking its a crack though? If it looks like a crack, acts like a crack, and there is a history of cracks, what would you think this is?

And what about the water being sucked into the plenum?

I also looked at mine and have similar imperfections...but they are not cracks. If it was a crack then it would idle roughly.

no I dont blame him at all!!!

because it sure looks like a crack!!

I am just receiving a wave of heat from the report. You guys are giving us all heart attacks over here.

This particular section of the plenum is about 1/2" thick and is partially molded in with the center support. It really is the strongest section of the plenum.

I apologize for the imperfection, but sometimes we get imperfections in tooling our molds and it is just too expensive to keep tooling looking for perfection.

Sorry, but my digital camera cable wont be arriving for a couplehours so I can post some pics.

I wanted to apologize to hvrod, I did not at all want to direct any blame or even question his judgement.

I have had a couple emails and PMs from people who had read the post, say they had the same crack, so you definately werent jumping the gun.

I understand a lot of people are skeptical, so I just hope we can all clear this up.

Wow, I am amazed both by the fact that one thread about a crack in the v4 got this much attention, and by the quick response by Kinetix.

Crazy...

Just for the record, I have the same imperfection on my V4 and its not a crack at all. If the crack was that large, you're car would really be idling badly by now... Perhaps this is a bit of a mistake? My v4 is running great.
