Default Kinetix plenum makes my car sound like a fart can

Kinetix plenum makes my car sound like a fart can.
I just installed my plenum.
Does anybody else have this same problem?
I may sell it if this is the case.

Never heard of a plenum causes any "Exhaust" noise changes.

How about you elaborate.

I have all the above installed and after I put the plenum on it sounds really loud. Like a bunch of holes were drilled into my cats or exhaust pipes.
People that live next to me noticed it right away.
At idle its fine but when I take off at WOT, fart and fart and fart.
WTF is up?
I torqed down on the strut bolts thinking that the engine vibrations were the cause but it was not the case.

Try tightening the adjustment bolt on the bar, not the bolts that are actually on the struts themselves. I had a similar problem with mine and tightening helped a bit. It is certainly not as bad as before.

Gotcha. The adjustment nut on the bar.
Everything was great and then bam, fart city. Nothing worked. I'll give it a try in the morning.
Thanks

That sounds very strange, I would try removing the strut bar completely just to try and narrow down the possible problems.

You say it has changed your exhaust note? Does it sound like the sound has changed from underneath the hood? The plenum does have a "gurgle" noise to it, but it generally is only noticeable at idle.

I have a similar setup but not that sound at all. The plenum added a small gurgling sound but that was it. However, cats and plenum were added after the popcharger and before the headers and exhaust. I would suggest putting the stock intake back on to see if that makes a difference. That would be easiest.

i also have similar mods and my car sounds awesome, no fart can, sounds more like a tuned ferrari.

Note: My car no longer has the Helix test pipes on (sounded raspy and more like the fart can) it now has HF cats welded into the helix pipes.

Well. I finally removed the stut bar and all the extra buzzing noise went away.
The plenum was rubbing against it and was causing the noise.
Maybe I should have gone with the Crawford plenum. I at least would have gotten a few more horses since I have to replace the strut bar anyway.
If I add washers to the strut bar mounts I think that I will have a problem with clearance to the hood.

How safe is it to drive without the strut bar?

Put 8 washers (1 for each bolt) on the strut tower between the tower and the bar. It raises the bar enough so it doesn't rub.

I'll give that a try and If it doesn't work then I'll see if Kinetix will take it back or something.

Thanks.

I had my strut bar bent to take out the dip in the middle, It wouldn't adjust enough without bending. Sounds great now!

Did you try using washers?

you can tension the strut bar, and it will change the clearance between the bar and the plenum. Several others have done this.

If you mean adjusting the bolts on the bar? I already tried that and it helps but when I turn on the air conditioning it starts up again.

it's expensive, but a crawford or stillen bar would fix the issue.

im confused on how theres not enough adjustment height for you on your strut bar, i tightened the tension on my strut bar & it raised way more than i needed it & had more room to adjust. as you raise the tension the bar naturally rises in the center since in theory you are trying to lengthen the bar by widening the adjustment bolt. the bar only has one way to go, UP.....i guess theres more variance than i thought between the plenums.......

please dont take offense to this, im not trying to insult anyone. loosen the left & right jam nuts on the tension rod. then turn the center nut wich turns the entire rod to tighten the tension. turn from top to bottom while facing the front of the car & pull the wrench towards you. this makes the threads push the bar & due to its arc shape it gets taller in the center....if you were doing this already than im sorry, i just wanted to be sure the correct actions were being taken. naturally the amount of height i can introduce on mine leads me to believe almost anyone can gain enough clearance.........again, no disrespect, only trying to help incase the wrong adjustemnts were being made....best of luck
