Default Downpipe Use

I've seen alot of posts concerning "test pipes" and was interested in finishing out my exhaust system. I currently have a tanabe super racing medallion exhaust and was wondering... Is a downpipe the same as a test pipe? I know it will get rid of my catalytic converter. Will this be extremely loud? Is this something that should be done on an N/A 350z that is going F/I later on or should it only be used on an F/I app?

Thanks for the Insight

Downpipe is used with Turbos. It is the pipe that comes from the exhaust side of the turbine.

Test pipe will eliminate your Catalytics.
