It is probably one of the test pipes up against the shield onthe car body, the passenger side was a problem for me, I had to losen and retighten the test pipe a couple of times to get it to move enough, some have bent the shield back a little.

Make sure your y-pipe is not vibrating against the cross brace where the y-pipe bolts to the back half of the exhaust. When I bought my R/T cats, they came with spacers that move the brace down away from the exhaust.

Very likely the exhaust rattling on the boomerang shaped body brace under the car. I had this problem with my Stillen exhaust. I wrapped area of exhaust that passed over the brace with header wrap and it was silent after that.

Mine hasn't but I heard that on some 04's that it does come on.

I don't think the y-pipe passes over that brace but rather the staight pipe, if the y-pipe is good it shouldn't cause the straight pipe to hit the brace.

What y-pipe are you running that broke in 2?

I dont think he has problems with the cat heatshields, because I think he is running straight through pipes, usually the heatshield problem comes with the resonated pipes

Yes you are correct if just pipes then they shouldn't touch the shields.

Well the y-pipe broke right at the welds at the bottom of the y just an inch before the flange. Try to post pics later.

I installed the Kinetix Y-pipe a few days ago and almost immediately noticed significant vibration at low rpm's. It neither sounds nor feels good. Any ideas what is causing the vibration? Is it just the increased air flow through the pipes causing this? Will it evenutally subside?

BTW, I asked the installer about the fitment of the pipe and he advised that the fitment was fine and air leaks did not exist. So, at this point I am assuming the air leaks are not to blame for the vibration.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I found that the Y-pipe sits extremely close to the underbody of the car. I had to have it uninstalled and have the underbody hammered in a bit for clearance. There is no longer any rubbing from underneath the car, but there is still a small rattle throughout the exhaust that I cannot find. The Helix test pipes do not allow the use of the factory brackets that used to hold the cats in place, so that is probably the reason for the rattle that I am still hearing. I will eventually take it to a muffler shop to make some new brackets to hold the exhaust more in place when the engine torques over.

Try to lower the Black V shaped cross member w/ some spacers. I got mine from Performance Nissan in Duarte (free) & it stopped the rattle. There should be at least a half inch clearance to the exhaust pipes.
