Question Y pipe question

Does Nismo or noncatback exhausts come with a Y pipe? I'm
asking because I've heard the Y pipe is the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust and its otherwise pretty good. What about the midpipe?

I like the stock look and sound so I'm thinking about running a Kinetix (or other) Y pipe with Crawford high flow cats and maybe DC , Crawford or Stillen headers.

Does this sound like a good setup or do I really need an aftermarket exhaust?

And what about hp gains? Has anyone dynoed the stock exhaust with Ypipe, highflows or headers?

Thx

Mufflers themselves do not add HP, only freeing up restrictions do that. I am adding DC SS Headers, Crawford Cats and a Y-pipe to my stock exhaust. The HP increase with a totally new system versus the y-pipe is as good, and better than most. In 30 days I will do a dyno. I,m considering doing the Gruppe Y since it costs 275 dlvrd as compared to Japtrix @ 350, and I question Kinetix doing a different design..it may be another Plenum fiasco

I just put in the Gruppe-s y-pipe. It is of excellent built quality and it is actually very attractive, not that anyone can see it, due to a mirror like polished SS finish. I bought it along with a fujitsubo exhaust so I got a discount beyond the already low price of $275. So keep that in mind whne you order. They should be able to give you a break. Just make sure you tell them you heard of them here, that will help with the pricing.

I agree the muffler doesn't do anything but the y-pipe and straight pipe do, unfortunately only one company sells a straight pipe without having to by the full system and that is Japtrix who also sells a y-pipe.

Thankyou all for the help.

Westpack, do you know where I can buy the Japtrix Y and Mid pipe? That sounds like a good deal for good gains.

I think I'll go for DC headers also. They probably get as good a gain as any other for a decent price. Does anybody know where to get a good price on the DCs? Also, is the fitament good? I've heard less expensive headers somtimes have a problem with this.

Japtrix+Crawford+DC should equal some really good gains!!

Yes, you get the performance benefits for a fraction of the cost. They are here in Florida and you can contact them at 561-963-8700 and ask for Roger Acham or Roger Case, really cool guys.
