Default Installed Kinetix HF Cats.. Help

I've just installed Kinetix HF Cats and its making a noise...putt putt putt putt.. at idle.

I made sure all the bolts are tighten down but sounds like either something is stuck inside the cats or an air leak.

Can someone shine some light on this matter for me ? Does your Kinetix HF Cats make noise at idle ?

Sounds like you have an exhaust leak.

Get back under there and check everything, if it's all tightened down correctly call Kinetix. They will replace it...

if you cannot tighten any more take it into a muffler shop.
they will throw it up on the lift and check it out and tighten it down in about 5 minutes. if the shop is cool they will only charge you 5 or 10 bucks to do it.

good luck,

Yeah I used the gaskets... Ive done this install about 4 times but this is the first time having this issue...

I will definitely take it to the shop tomorrow and have them tighten everything down for me. Hopefully its not the cats.

The sound is coming from both sides and it does sound like a leak..

there is no fitment issue at all. Its a perfect fit. I noticed that the bolts and nuts that Kinetix sent over was really difficult to tighten down so it has to be that...

So... stripped bolts and nuts!!! Simply enough!

When the car is running, can you feel exhaust gas escaping? Is it on a lift to check?

I think we ended up using a mix of the Kinetix bolts and the stock bolts when we installed my cats. Mine make no noise whatsoever at idle. Some of those bolts are hard to reach to really tighten down even if you have your car on a lift!

Well found out what the problem was. There was a hole in the welded part of the cats. I took it to Midas and they welded the place where the air leak was. It cost me 56 dollars to do it but my car doesnt sound like a lawn mower.

The best part is Kinetix. Their excellence in customer service stands out. They are going to be reimbursing me for the cost of the repair.

Thanks for all your help guys

Nice find. I had to have one of my Kinetix cats' flanges cut off and rotated 15 degrees to fit the stillen exhaust. Bolt holes weren't even close.

I had fitment issue on mine where after installing it the resonators on my injen ses are pretty much touching and form a v shape outwards.. Kinetix offered to ship me new updated version with return label to send back old one.. suck's that I can't get it all installed in one shot.. but at least Kinetix is taking care of it right away.. only problem I have now is figuring out why the passenger side exhaust tip sticks out 2" further than driver's side
