What do y'all think?

 

Kind of a blanket question. No comparison really. One is cold air and one is short ram. Pick whatever you want. I love my Nismo latest version.

 

New K&N Cold air intake 268.00 . I have the AEM close to the Nismo toohard to clean go with K&N much easier to get to and clean , I have to take the wheel off almost to clean it + the TYPHOON has the air reciever that goes down to the grill instead of in under the fender. My 2 cents

 

Is the K&N a short ram? All pics I've seen of it has that carbon fiber piece blocking the tube. I have no idea how far down the intake goes.

 

I can get the nismo/AEM filter off in 5 minutes, It's really not that hard. I like my nismo intake.

 

for the k&n the filter sits inside that cf box, and then there is another tube connecting to the box that goes down to the grill, so the filter is in the box and another tube goes down to the middle of the front grill.

 

Oh if only that box was CF, only the lid is. It's a metal box that is all too good at being a huge heat soak. Which is why I added fiberglass insulation AND reflective wrap to mine.

 

 

My filter is different because I wanted a open top K&N filter and I sealed the filter box, otherwise it has a big opening at the bottom. Plus you can see tabs that I fabbed so the lid secures at 4 places.

 

Yes it is a shortram that uses techniques similar to stock air boxes to get colder air from the fender well into the box the filter sits in. The Nismo is a true cold air as the filter sits in the fender well.
