Default what is this connected to intake tube?

ok so I just got a carbon fiber intake tube and am installing it.

Only problem is that there's some sorta rubber hose connected to the tube. What is it? The hose goes to the back of the engine. Is it important?

The Carbon fiber tube has no connection for this hose so is it just some sensor, pressure thing, or just another stupid nissan fastener thing?

that is the pcv tube. it collects the built up gasses from the cylinder head. it is an emissions device.

am I ok to just disconnect it entirely? from the engine i mean - so there's no hose at all?

I'm assuming so, since a lot of people have replaced their intake tube, but what are the consequences if any? Will this have an effect on emissions somehow?

thanks

alright, did some research

so it looks like I need a PCV breather to put this part on.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what paprt they bought to make their intake tube work? Any links on where to buy?

Most parts stores will have a little K&N Filter you can stick on the end of the tube with an adapter.

so you plug the filter into the end of the tube or can you just take the tube completely off and plug the filter directly onto the valve on the engine that holds the tube? Or does it not really matter? Maybe it's better to put the filter on the tube so the tube can collect more oil?

If the filter fits on the valve on the engine I would lose the tube. Otherwise you are going to have to find a way to prevent the hose from flapping around.

it doesnt collect oil. just the gasses built up from the cylinder head.

edit: then it recirculates those gasses back into the intake and then to the cylinder heads.

it helps to cut down on the emmissions.

if it were me, I'd drill into your intake tube and put a brass fitting in there to connect this to - maybe use some silicone to help seal it up and ensure it wont fall out. I know it stinks, but while you can fit a breather filter onto it, your engine bay, over time, while get filthy by not recirculating the breather

Or, you could fit a catch can
