Default APS Plenum

Are you required to run the APS TT with the APS Plenum or can you buy the Plenum seperately and run it like the Kinetix or Crawford Plenum? I heard that the APS plenum was different because it has 6 fuel plugs...

no its un upgeaded plenum that will flow evenly and allow more air into the combustion chamber. It will also have a place for 6 extra injectors which would be nice.

Maybe the 6 extra injectors is what I was mixing up with something else...
So if I were to buy this and run it on my car without a TT or SC, I would still be fine then? Okay good, because I was looking at getting a plenum, and from my analysis of the Kinetix and the Crawford, they both had their problems.
Then when I saw this one, I liked it a lot, so Im planning on saving up and buying it when it comes out in Feb 05.

can the plenum also be run WITH a TT or SC?
so, then it really doesnt matter, in terms of the plenum, if you have a TT/SC or if you are N/A?

They are not out yet. The APS website says they will be released in February.

Looks 100 times better first off...And its going to have previsions inside for an extra set of fuel injectors for F/I High HP cars..Also I believe it will be an upper and lower plenum design.I may be wrong..

on their site, it seems to look like it's only an upper plenum - the lower one in the picture looks stock to me.

how much is it?

I don't care about the engine cover anyway - extra weight and serves no real purpose other than restricting heat from escaping

what does their strut bar look like? will the strut bar fit with the engine cover

it does look nice

I have had the Crawford for ~5k miles.
Like the kick it provides at the top, but I don't like the very noticeable noise. Some refer to it as "woo-woo" or "little diesel sound". Some want the sound , some don't .
In my G35C with Borla and Crawford CATs , windows up, the most prominent noise at cruise , in cab is definately the Plenum.

I expect the APS plenum, being Cast Alumium, as opposed to welded sheet metal (Crawford) will be much quieter (similar to OEM in sound).

"Highly doubtful" that the OEM cover will fit.

I just installed my crawford V5 plenum last week

it doesn't make a woo woo sound

It might maybe make that sound if I didn't bolt down the top bolt - leaving a hole in the top

It sounds a little more hollow sounding than stock - louder at maybe 5k and beyond. To me it sounds a little meaner - almost more muscle car sounding possibly. And by more "hollow sounding" for those familiar with sound frequencies, it louder in the 300-500hz area.

As a side note, the plenum didn't make my jaw drop or anything in terms of power - little more power yeah, but not MASSIVE amounts different

the workmanship is awesome - the silver powdercoating looks 100x better than that cast iron or whatever look the stock plenum has.

I have no doubt the APS plenum is probably stronger - being that it isn't welded together like the crawford. However I bet the APS will cost $600-800 (though maybe I'm wrong) being that it was completely designed from scratch using a completely brand new mold without having to return the stock plenum.

I've heard the V5 sound described as "woo-woo" by others however; I wouldn't qualify it as such. It basically amplifies the valve train noise like a hollow drum. My install is correct, no leaks.

I can note the noise more since I am in a G35C which is significantly quieter overall in the cab than a Z. I've heard the plenum in a Zs cab and it is less notible over the other tranny, intake and road noise in a Z.

So and any dB increase from under the hood in G is more notable, even with the standard hood mat.

you put the rubber stopper on from the old plenum right? the one that goes on the front side of the plenum towards the front of the car on the car's right side?

Why do you think so? The Kinetix plenum fits with the OEM cover just fine. Its only the Crawford that Ive heard doesnt fit with it...

Yes, you are referrgin to the vaccum nipple.
I have been rebuilding cars for 25 years, I'm not quite that dumb . I beleive the "woo-woo" reference is in reference to the sound of a locamotive, sort of diesel-like
