Unhappy Redline Fluids (not impressed)

I changed out my Nissan fluids in my Dif and Tranny today and used Redline products for both. I have heard it makes shifting smoother though I noticed absolutly no difference. I have 22 1/2 k miles on my ride. Side note: when I pulled drain plug on my dif had almost no shavings. I am curious who has used Redline product in there cars and have you noticed any improvements? I can't justify the enormous price dif from something like Nissan fluids, or even Mobile one VS price of REDLINE. I would appreciate any feedback on this I can get.

Thanks

Chris

I changed my differential fluid @ 18K miles a few days ago. The drain p,lug was coated with metal shaving. I am now running Redline 75W-90, the car feels the same.

BTW, what how many ft-lb did you torque your differential drain plug to? I torqued it to 50ft-lb according to repair manual. See my post on the forum.. I think the repair manual is wrong.

Do yourself a favor and use one of the gear lube options that Amsoil offers. No mixing and you can use the same fluid for the gearbox and rear diff.

Do a search. There are tons of threads on this stuff. I agree with Z'd. Amsoil rocks.

Side Note: Z'd, What Amsoil grade are you using in both diff and tranny? I am currently using Mobile 1 products.

They have adjusted their selections somewhat.
When I changed, the choice was a Series 2000 75W-90- it handled both the rear diff and MT with no additives and no mixing necessary.
The best two options available now are as follows:
http://www.amsoil.com/products/agl.htm
http://www.amsoil.com/products/fgr.htm

fgr is the current equivalent of what I used. Both are usable in the dual applications.

I freely admit to being biased to Shell products, as I am employed by them. But in my defense I know a lot more about the specs (including prioritary information) of any Shell product and I get one heck of good price on the product.
First: how do you get SPIREX S 75W90?

Second: Do you just drop the tranny pan to drain the fluid and where is the filler hole for the tranny??? Is the manual transmission fluid the same as the clutch fluid???

thanks

Hi
I use AMSOIL for my Z and for a Lexus 300.
The FULL synthetic is about $7 a quart (pricey, but does seem to last longer)
Replaces any of the T-IV fluid requirements. I pull out about 4 quarts every 15000-20000 miles, and replace with new. The fluid never seems to develop the dark color or funny smell common to Dexron or other types of transmission fluids in my US cars.
