Default Squeal while Braking in Reverse

My Z makes a squealing noise whenever I'm going in reverse & braking. I happen to stumble upon this TSB and took it to the dealer about 15 minutes ago.

He didn't get in my car to check, but told me to come back at 5 PM. He said he never saw that TSB before. I never had my car serviced where something needed to be fixed before. Is this how they normally service cars? What if they don't do anything to it? I had to walk home (thank god I live 2 blocks away). Now I'm waiting on my roommate to take me back to work.

Same, squeels when stopping in reverse. I am noticing a much quieter squeel when stopping normally now too, so I think it is just the break wear indicator. Apparantly it is just more evident when stopping in reverse. Kinda pissed, I only have 23.4k miles on my car. They better replace these (probably just front pads) under warranty because even a wear item like brakes should last longer than 23k miles. I may try to buy the Hawk HPS front pads (non-bembro) and let Nissan take care of all labor, etc. under warranty. Or... I could just let Nissan foot the entire bill, and ask that they upgrade me to Nismo for free because I am sick of my brand new 35k car being at the dealer. Kinda makes you look stupid to always have to take time off from work to get your new car fixed

I already had my front tires replaced for feathering, alignment adjusted, cup-holder was sticking they had to pop that back out, emergency brake was too loose, left rear tire transmitter/pressure gauge was leaking, front left rim got out of round/dented, and now this. Oh did I mention that when I shift from 2nd to 3rd it grinds now? Don't get me wrong I love my car, but damnit Nissan wtf did you do any R&D before the 2003 release??? 2003 = guinea pig

To xephiron: Holy hell... that's a lot of things that went wrong. I guess I shouldn't complain over my brakes. I did spray down my car yesterday of all the salt from the roads since it snowed the past 2 days. The bad part is that it made my "squeal in reverse" a little less noticeable. So I think when I go to the dealer to pick up my Z, they'll say they didn't find anything.

Speaking of tire feathering, I didn't think I was affected by the tire feathering but I just noticed yesterday that I have wear on the insides of my front tires. However, it is nowhere as near as bad as others. I have 10K miles on my car with stock tires and I am just now seeing the slight wear. I'm thinking I'll be ok by the time I swap out the tires for new ones because I'm already wearing down the stock ones quite a bit.

This is the first time I went to the dealer and I can already admit that it sucks.

I had the same issue with my wife's Murano, the brakes would only squeal when going in reverse. I took the Murano into the dealers 3 different times, they finally replace the front brakes on the third visit per the TSB. It is not a brake wear indicator, check the amount of pad you have left, if you are like my Murano you should have plenty left. I had around 23000 miles also.

At this point I am thinking an LS 35th anniversary 6MT would be nice, although I don't think it exists in that color

Think they would do that under warranty? hehe

Gotta take it in to get my tranny checked anyway, I will make sure they do something about the brakes too. To be honest, I am not HUGELY concerned about the brakes, I am gonna order the Stop-Tech Stage 2 kit for $650 (non-Bembro) and get my brake system upgraded to that very soon. Still retains stock calipers, which stop the car fine, just need to get the powder coated red or black I guess.

Update: I just got my car back from the dealership service shop. To my surprise they went ahead and did the TSB I gave them. They also went a few steps and polished my rotors and gave me new brake pads! The TSB only said to replace the shim and apply the some kind of lubricant.

I'm totally amazed because I hear all sorts of horror stories of how dealerships screw you on repairs. They had some banner in their shop, something about being a Nissan Platinum level service center. I wonder if that had to do with anything.

I'm a very happy person, I didn't even buy my car from them.
