when have you changed your front brakes? at what mileage?

 

i believe the brakes probably have an indicator as too when the pad has worn down to an unacceptable width...usually you can hear a sort of scraping of this indicator on your rotor...if you love hitting the brakes a lot and you have been doing it for 40,000 miles...i'd look to see what the status is with the indicator

 

ok was wondering cause i just had mine replaced at 22,000, the guy said they are usually changed at 15,000..maybe he meant just the pads?

 

yea def the pads...but they shouldn't have needed to be replaced after 22,000...that's odd

 

I had my front pads replaced at 22K miles. Which is about what I expected.

 

i made it to 42,000 before pad replacement. supposedly the vdc light comes on which is an indicator for low brake fluid and possible replacement. or yes, listen for the sqeek when you lightly hit the brakes. i took it for a grain of salt and made it for another 8k after that. but put on all new cross drilled rotors and hawk pads so i was not to worried about scoring a rotor though.

 

Yes that is true. When the pads get to a certain wear point the sensor sends a message to VDC (disabling it). If you drive it with the VDC light on the Brake Light will come on also. This is a good feature to have since I really did not know my pads were that worn...

 

if you drive on highway alot then you will be able to make it to 40k miles. I replaced mine at 26k miles.
