Default High Pitch sound / Whine / noise

I did a search and I didn't find much useful infomation. Threads died off fast. Basically, I hear a slight high pitch whine when my car is on. I could be not moving at all and it's there. Sounds like feedback from the speakers but the radio is off. It's very slight sound where the road noise will mask it. I'm just wondering what it is? Definitely sounds like speaker feedback to me. Would the grounding kit fix this?

I don't think it's the tranny, or wind noise as discussed in other threads as I am not moving. Thank you.

I hear the same thing....no biggie it might be the fuel pump. My Audi does it also.

My 2003 just started this buzzing/whining sound too. Mine has 33k miles. The car is stock, the only aftermarket item is a K&N air filter. The noise is coming from the passenger side floor board area and only seems to occur when the engine is at idle. Pushing in the clutch and selecting a gear does not affect the noise. The noise does seem to change with engine speed but I can not hear it after about 900 RPM due to the other engine noises. So far I have not been able to locate the source. Does this sound constant with everyone else's diagnosis?

I do know this, if you open the hood and turn the ignition on (don't start the car), there is a high-pitched whine that come from the back-right side. It sounds like it's coming from the throttle actuator in the TB.

**update**

The dealership is ordering a fuel pump. According to Nissan, the fuel is cavitating inside the fuel line due to a faulty pump. This sounds like a strech but we'll see.

Yes, please keep us posted on that one. If I were a betting man, I sure wouldn't put my money on that.

Believe it or not, the fuel pump and dampner replacement fixed this problem. I'm shocked myself... So, I recommend that if you have a buzzing sound coming from your passenger side floorboard area, go to the dealership and have them check it out. They may have to call Nissan for assistance, but if they simply adjust your heatsheilds, it will not fix the problem. They must replace the fuel pump and fuel pump dampner (it may be a fuel line dampner, I'm not sure).

that noise coming from your passenger rear is normal. its the fuel pump priming. all cars do it, but the Z is notoriously loud. always make sure you turn the ignition on and wait for the noise to stop (2-4 seconds) and then crank the engine. your fuel pump has less strain that way and will last longer, also smoother start ups.

I just started hearing noises coming from the right back speaker area. It sounds like speaker feedback and when I try to stick my ear back there to see where it's coming from I find myself having a hard time actually pin pointing where it's coming from.

It sure does sound like it's coming from my speaker, but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyone else have the same noises from your stock speaker?

My car just started making this noise today. It makes a whining sound when I first start the car but goes away once I put it in first. Argh... is this a major problem?

I have the same issue when it started in cold morning. But it's gone after car warms up.

it sounds like it is the speakers, at least in the bose models, not turning off. Each have there own amp, so I wonder if after market radios dont tell the speakers to turn off.
