Default Only Change Oil Filter?

If I change just my oil filter and not my oil, how much oil should I expect to lose? I imagine the filter itself is full so that oil would need to be replaced. And I guess most of the oil will be in the oil pan. However, I'm wondering how much is backed up in the oil lines and fall out of the filter connector?

BTW, I'm contemplating using an extended oil change interval with synthetic and oil analysis service such as Blackstone. I understand this method still requires fairly regular filter changes.

Thanks,
Jeff

I would venture a guess at a quart. But to be safe, check your levels before putting more oil in...

change both oil and filter (synthetic that is) anywhere from 4-7k miles. I switched to sythetic once I was sure the engine had been completely broken in, for me that was 15k, my personal thoughts on when an engine is truly broken in on Dino oil.
