Default cylinder # 2 misfire and evap leak (slight)

i just took my car to the autozone for a free dianosis of my check engine light.

the irony of this is that I took it to a local dealership last week for it's 60K service.

well, they told me it'd be $500+ and I didn't even let them work on it.

the car had no check engine light before I went up there.

on my way home the check engine light came on completely ironic I think.

but.....neways, it said @ the autozone w/ the cheap little device they use that it had a cylinder #2 misfire and slight evap leak.

are these things I should be worried about? I don't even recognize any performance loss or idle problems.

the check engine light is off now, so I am assuming the autozone guy reset the light.

any suggestions?

i'm trying to decide if I should take it to a dealership or local import place for service.

I'm not too keen on the idea of spending that much money @ the dealership considering the one I'm talking about (Chattanooga, TN) doesn't seem to care much about my passion for this vehicle.

the 60K seemed like a fluid flush and air cleaner replacement and that's not going to cost me $500+ i will do that myself.

I cannot imagine what this cylinder misfire fix will cost.

any chattanooga area guys who know a good shop or better dealership can help me out,

i would take this problem seriously... this problem can because by many different things.. have it checked out asap, and yes you are losing performance because of this.

First off, it was a misfire you would know. How is the car idling? How does it run under full throttle? From your post, it doesnt appear to be misfiring as you have not mentioned anything regarding it.

Default misfire?

today the diagnostic told me that I need to replace the coil pack on cylinder # 2

so he's ordered it and it will be installed this week.

the evap was probably caused by loose gas cap considering it hasn't come back since the first reset by autozone.

honestly, like I said, it seems to run fine to me.

but I trust this import shop, they have always done good work for me and it's gonna be less than $200 to get the part (oem) and install it.

can't beat that.

thanks guys, I'll post mpg results as soon as I get it installed and drive it a bit.

as for now, I'm avg. 19mpg on the interstate, which isn't good imo.
