Alright, well I have read all the stuff and know there is the TSB on the bolt and all that fun stuff but anywayz, I took my car in for a second time for this today (last time was 9/04). Their diagnosis of the problem was that the CU (i'm assuming this was CV and was mistyped by the service rep unless i'm just dumb and there really is a CU joint ) Joints on both sides were worn out and had to be replaced. Is there any possible reasoning as to why this would happen to an 04 Z? Is this common? They had to special order the parts and I hafta bring my car back when they get them in...

I have an 04 Z that had the same problem. The dealership repaired this week but never really went into detail on what caused it.

the clicking is normally caused by a bad bolt.... I haven't heard of anyone's CV joints being worn out... the TSB is just for the bolt i believe

The dealer was vague about whether it was the drive shaft or rear axles when they fixed my '04. But it was under a service bulletin and free, so I wasn't *****ing. If it was the driveshaft I kinda wanted the dead part, since it'd make a nice carbon fiber trophy in the garage.

Ive got an 03 and my rear was clicking so i took it in....and the delearship was susposed to fix that along with a few other tsb's. I had to leave my car there for a day or two and when i got it back none of the problems were fixed. Hope the clicking isnt anything serious cause i still havent got it fixed.

I have an 04 with this problem, they are replacing both axles.

Just got off the phone with the service manager, who seems to know me, yeah, the guy who come in with his TSB's already printed up and tells them what the problem is as I hate to drop off the car for the day for a simple diagnosis. Got to go in this morning as they will road test it(shop foreman only) and confirm that little annoying click coming from the rear as I start or accelerate from a stop. Just noticed it a couple of days ago, hopped on the forum and with a couple of searches later and voila, there it is, that friggin rear axle clicking., They want me to bring in the car becuase they want to see if they have to order the replacement parts for both sides or the one, cheapos. I will let you guys know. BTW, this forum is so extensive in nature, and I am very grateful that all of you share your little hiccups or painful experiences, and the good ones as well with everybody. Very informative, plus I get to anoy the crap out of the service advisors at the dealer.....Oh no, here he comes again, TSB and all.

What type of performance problems does the clicking cause? I've noticed clicking from the rear axles, whenever I go to to work in the mornings (and I have my windows down).

Well, they ordered the parts for both sides. It was exactly what the TSB said it was. The clicking seems to be getting a little more noticeable. Oh well, soon it will be gone.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of this TSB as well as any others for the Z's? I have an 04 and get this clicking on occasion. Thanks!

at nissanhelp.com under the bulletins section. I just got mine back with no fix to the problem and also had to wait 30 days for parts. Their courtesy and efforts do reflect good service but they didn't replace the outer axles and wheel bearings per the TSB's instructions. To top it off I get a 2005 Expedition loaner, better than the cobalt they thought they were going to give me. They just replaced the driveshaft bolts. Also, ask for a copy of the work that was done, they have to give it to you.

I brought my car in for the same thing,rear axle ticking, and the tech said they will have to rebulid the rear axles and have to order the parts......well that was july 15 !! I have already called them twice and they said a couple of washers are still back ordered. How f***in long does it take nissan to get parts from nissan!!

My rear axles click as well. They clicked a few thousand miles ago as well. I took the car in, they replaced the axles under warranty. The click is back now, no more quiet super-butter smooth take off. I will take it in again soon. I don't want this problem right now. This is a new car, and I don't take it offroad or anything stupid, the parts should not wear out like this, or what is going on?

Nuts on back order til 10/9 so looks like I'll have to drive with clicking for another few weeks.

Hmm.. I have an 05 with roughly 7k miles on it....and yes I have that stupid Click sound too. Can this be something serious or should we all just ignore it.
