If you search that thread you may also find links to face plate adapters for a double-DIN dash kit made for your car.

Not sure but just a guess the dealer will ask $500 if not more like $800 for the BOSE HU. Unless it was down around $200 I would not even consider replacing it out of warranty.
here are some of the pics... so far

I maybe a little more than happy that my left speaker is going out

Hey any recommendations for HU.. All i need is something that plays MP3s.... I mean if there is a good deal for a nice one with a screen i will take that.. but overall any ideas? Also will need something compatible with IPOD

i fixed my problem by getting a CD changer that plays Mp3 and it works with the FM , so all the speakers are working fine .

done that cause am not soo into sound systems. i mean dont want louder than the bose.. just want the left speaker to work . so i guess this can be a turnaround way .

i will never get a relacment HU for 1700$ which may have the same problem after sometime.... i will never let the dealers fool me.

good luck guys

I have the Pioneer Avic D1 and I too have the left speaker cutting out.

I figure either the Bose amp or the speaker, but has changing either one helped anybody?

thanks,

Rich

it seems like most of the problem is in the colder climate area.

I have the same problem with my bose system. The dealership replaced the speaker, and it worked for a couple days. Now it sounds worse/about the same as before. Grrrrrrrrr

Default yahoo...got the BOSE fixed for free!

Wow, it's not often that I dealer takes care of you. I've got a 2003 Z. The 3/36 warranty is long gone. My left side channel had dropped out. With the CD player, little to no sound out of the left side with the balance set 100% to the left. With the radio on, you would get sound from both sides.

I took the Z in for an oil change and asked for them to have a quote on installing a new BOSE head unit. At noon, they called and told me they had finished the oil change. Then they said, if I leave the car there they'll fix the BOSE the next day FOR FREE! The service manager called Nissan and got approval to fix the stereo for free. So, just got it back and all is good. Both channels work. So, if you have the symptoms above it's probably the head unit.

Kwadell,

Can you get the part number involved? I am betting it is the Bose Ampifier IN THE REAR, and NOT the head unit, since I changed out my head unit to a PIONEER and still experience the SAME PROBLEM.

Sorry about the caps, but I am frustrated...

I had this issue and replaced it with another Bose HU. Works perfect now.

Default BOSE head unit

It was definitely the head unit that they changed. Original unit had a small scratch and that is now gone. I'll dig up report and see if it shows the p/n. Both channels worked fine with the radio. It was only the CD channel that had the left side out. I'll also give it another 2 weeks to confirm the issue is 100% fixed.

Went to the dealer and found out the dirt on this one:

The Bose recall involves the REAR amp, part # 28060CE400, retail price = $387. Turns out my car had this replaced under warrantee by the PO, but they will not make good a second time on it. I will likely do some research, as sometimes you can fix your own Bose amp by soldering the board.

I had the same problem - my left side was shorting out (and my headunit would skip sometimes - moreso when cold), and the dealership replaced it and so far so good...

I'm getting the same issues now as well, but I don't have the stock HU, I have an aftermarket HU, and I took the car in to the dealer, they said it was the left front speaker, it worked for like a week or two then boom.. out again. They said they tested the amp, but like infamous, it worked great at some points and was crap in others... I honestly think its the amp, because if the OEM sub amp craps out like it does, who knows what Bose did to cut cost on developing the speaker amp as well

Default left speaker random off and on

Does anyone out there a definite fix for the left speaker random off and on? I would rather not buy an aftermarket headunit or amp if it will not fix the problem. Please Help.

Sorry to bump an ancient thread, but I didnt see a fix for this in this thread. I searched too but most people just replaced the head unit. I have an aftermarket headunit, and recently the drivers side speaker cuts in and out. Itll work fine, then Ill hit the brakes, and it doesnt want to work, and then randomly come back on. I havent pulled it apart to check to see if theres a loose connection, wanted to avoid pulling the wiring apart more than I had to. Im tempted to just get new speakers, but Ive heard wiring them is a pain :/ Any help is appreciated
