Default Drivers window switch broken

I can't get to the dealership to get it fixed until the weekend, and until then my window is stuck in the up position. Its not really a problem except when opening and closing the door. The window doesn't move and therefore isn't seating properly.

Is there a way to manually lower the window a bit till I can get it fixed?

I would suggest waiting to get it fixed at the dealer,I just had mines replaced yesterday at the delaership, both motors went, first the drivers side, than the passenger side. Now with the new window motors my windows go up and down like when they did when I bought the car brand new.

To add more complaints to the file here... My driver side just decided to not work the other day as well. Keep pushing the button and nada... nothing. Was going to take it in but when I drove it 2 days later it was working again.

Weird how people have the same types of issues. Sounds like another TSB needs created. Guess it really depends on how much you "use" the window function. How guys out there are smokers having this issue? Mine goes up and down all the time when I drive it:

Need to smoke, window goes part way down.
Done smoking window goes back up.
Repeat 10-15 times a day = burnt motor / switch.

My drivers side window starting doing this randomly a few weeks ago. Lately it has been terrible, and when it has worked, the motor sounds disgusting. I'll add this to my next service visit of "to-do's" along with suspension clicks, seat moving/knocking, and transmission.

welcome to the driver side window broke club....mines quit on me 2 times as well although the third one seems to be holding up pretty well. You'll have to pay out of pocket for window motor about $200 I think, not sure though!

Replaced both sides in mine. If its stuck, give the door panel a swat in the middle with the backend of your fist (where your pinky finger rolls up - not the knuckles.) That will usually shock the motor into functioning for a few moments.

Took our 03 Z for the fourth time yesterday to fix the window, the first three all involved the passenger side window, and low and behold the third time was a charm, now the driver side is doing the same thing sometimes it works and others times it doesn't, (stuck in the down position) the car has 14,000 miles and just came out of warranty last month, I already see the battle coming, When I asked the dealership if this was a ongoing problem with the Z, he said flat out no...... what BS

I have the same problem. I hate having to shell out 200 bucks to fix it but what really steams me is, it will most likey break again! Maybe its time i looked into the aftermarket warranty programs.

Has anyone tried to fix the motor/regulator themselves? How hard of a job was it?

I had the same problem. When i took it to the dealer they didnt even hesitate to fix it.The tech knew the problem right away and replaced the motor. The only thing was he said because my windows are tinted it would void the warranty but he didnt tell the service manager i had tints so i got it fixed under warranty.I never heard of window tints voiding the warranty for window problems.
