Weird rattle at startup
Every time the car is not driven for a long time when i start it it has a weird rattle after the Revs jump up to its peak and start to go down.
I do not know if its coming from the exhaust or what? It is not the flywheel rattle that is there its a weird rattle. After it has been used then the rattle is there at another start up but only for like a second. This is weird to me.
As you guys can see.........im very picky with my car and any noise i grow extremely concernced. The car has not been used for 3 weeks until yesterday and when I started it it did it. Then shut it down till tonight and then when I started it it did it again.
If you are wondering why I dont drive it much is because I fly as a pilot but the last 3 weeks it has been without bumpers and skirts since it is awaiting a new kit. LOL
Plz let me know any input would help. FYI I did get a new exhaust 1 1/2 months ago a true dual. Is is that the true dual is causing it? Hmmmm...........not sure. As long as you guys can say its not a bad engine issue or cracked engine or somehting Im HAPPY!! As long as its somehting that needs minor repair im fine I just dont want a messed up block or something. Im not mechanically inclined so I apologize for the basic questions. Thanks guys.

It might be your exhaust. I had mine fixed under a TSB but they didn't go into detail. I do know no parts were ordered with this fix. Check the TSB's at nissanhelp.com under the bulletins section.
I have a similar rattle at startup. Not instantly at startup, it happens like half a second after startup and lasts ~1/2 second.
it happens once in a while and at different intensity. It is more evident if the car has been sitting for some time.
it's an issue some people already mentioned here. Honestly I still haven't understood what it is exactly. Something like timing chain rattling before oil pressure in tensioner builds up.

The chain tensioner in the timing cover is hydraulic. It takes a second for the oil pressure to come up and pressurize the tensioner....especially after it has sat for a few days. It's just the chain tapping the case for a sec. My Maxima used to do it all the time. No worries.
I'm having the same probs..
n me too just installed Amuse R1 muffler last 2 weeks...
I assumed the exhaust was not properly installed coz my right muffler tips sit lower than the left one.. So what is the solution guys? tommorow gonna take off the muffler and reinstall with new gaskets....
is that really the timing chain?
Thanks...
