when coasting...
when Im coasting down my driveway foward or backword, I sometimes hear a sound as tho I just scraped my bumper on the ground. but I didnt. it happens when the car is in gear, cluth out, so just using engine braking, and then you heard "grind" just for about a second or less, then it stops, no noticable difference in speed.
anyone else get this?
anyone else get this?
Yes, I get this too. Mine happens when down shifting to slow down. I get it as the RPM's go from +4000 then at about 4000 I hear and feel a . . . well hard to describe. I had a honda person with me the last time I did it and he said it was the cam profile changing. I dont know. I dont do it often enough to worry about it or feel it does damage to any thing. Just sounds a little akward.
I get a similar noise when in gear and coasting while I go between 4000 down to 3000 in 2nd or 3rd gear, the problem is that I can't repeat with consistency. The sound and feel as mentioned is hard to describe but to me it seems like a shudder or vibration that lasts only for a second. I figured it probably isn't the driveshaft or it would do it all of the time but I have no clue, I took the tech for a ride and I could not duplicate it, so I guess I wont worry yet unless it really becomes more regular.
I had the same problem while coasting down the ramp in my parking garage at work. I knew I couldn't be scraping the bumper since I take the same route everyday, but that is close to what the grinding sounded like. Please let us know if anyone figures out what causes this.
Is it possibly the sound of the brakes dragging? I hear this on my other two cars if I crawl slow enough. With the sound proofing removed from one of my cars, it is very apparent on the rears.
