Default Z mysteriously shut down

Hey guys, I've got a situation.

My radio has an anti-theft feature that enables me to input a password if the unit has been disconnected from the battery. Well, I get into my car yesterday after work and found my deck to be prompting me for a password. I thought it was a little weird and a bit of a pain to have to put my stations back in but I simply passed it off as a fluke. Then this morning as I am driving to work, I'm stopped at a light. All of a sudden the startup lights come on and I realize my car had shutdown. It didn't really stall and sputter down but just stopped as if I had turned the key. I haven't had any problems starting or anything. And everything seems to be o.k. when it's running.

Anyways, I wanted to get your opinions on what you think the problem might be. I'm thinking it might be my battery ready to quit on me. But I think I also read something about a sensor or something causing stalls? Let me know guys.

O.

It's most likely your alternator.

Sorry, I read that wrong.. it started back up and ran fine?

Check the connections on your battery, then your starter. Make sure the connections are tight and clean. I had a problem with the battery cable being loose when I took delivery of my car.

If those connections are good, it's going to take some troubleshooting. Intermittant electrical problems are a PITA to diagnose. Hopefully it's just those connections.

I'm hoping it's as simple as that.

it might be the ECU malfunction...i remember my old 92 Lexus 400 did the same thing with 65k miles on it...the engine just stalled on the freeway and the the instrument lit up like a christmas tree.... it would not restart until the battery finally died. Lexus replaced the computer module under warranty.

I'm thinking it's not my CAI because for one, i've never had a problem with it before and two, it really didn't stall like these people with intakes claim. And it wouldn't really explain why my radio would ask for my password. As I said that only happens when the battery is unplugged. Thanks for the replies though guys. I'm thinkin more and more that it's battery related and not engine related.

Do you have a CAI or Pop charger at all? If you do? check that the filter is in place. My car kept on shutting down and when i take to dealer and they open the hood the filter of the intake had fallen off and was layinf there at trhe bottom, the computer was shuttign the car off.
