Default my trunk won't open...

i have an 03' touring. i sent my z in for a paint job on the rear bumper after a hit and run. when i got it back i noticed today that i couldn't open the trunk via using the trunk release button located between the rear license lights but can only open it using the keyfob. was there a trunk cancel switch that was mistakenly pushed? if there is where is it? or did the dealer screw something up???

There is not “hatch lock-out” switch that I’m aware of (the doors are unlocked correct?). Yes. Somebody screwed up.

I agree with CVT...I just got my car back from the shop with the same problem. I took it back and they denied the problem, but I made them take it apart and it truned out they installed it incorrectly and didnt plug the electrical lines......Make sure you also check the hatch release located under the back strut tower inside the car.

You want to make sure that the release (under the strut) was connected along with the other components since the body shop didnt assemble the hatch lock correctly. You check it now and not later when everything else is working except the interior release and you have to take it back to the shop a second time for the same problem.

Sorry to bump this up from nowhere, but I have a similar problem and want some input on my issue.

The button above the lic plate worked since I bought my car. After installing my audio system (including an under strut box) that button stopped working. I noticed it a couple days later after the install. The remote still opens the hatch though.

Is it possible I did something to whatever it is under the strut bar when i pushed the box under there? And what would I look for (harness, switch, etc.) if/when i remove everything? Is there a fuse that I can't find that could be blown that is for ONLY the hatch button on the bumper? everything else in the car is working fine that i can tell.

I have the full component manual for the rear hatch lock, but its 6MB. Does anyone know how to upload a Adobe Reader format document? I would email it, but I am limited to 2MB at work. Let me see what I can do...

Thanks a lot for your help. I kind of want to know what I'm looking for before I start ripping the hatch area apart.
