Angry Dealer Rip Off!

While putting on my plenum spacer, one of the center bolt for my upper plenum broke off. Took it to dealer to see if they can drill it out. Supposably they can't and wanna charge me 300 for a lower plenum. Total being $600 w/ labor. BS! Goin to drill try drillin it out myself, if not just buying the kinitex plenum, which you don't need the top bolts. How many lbs of pressure, do you use for the plenum bolts?

Go the Sears and get a bolt extractor kit and do it yourself.

Those 6 bolts on the center of the plenum are supposed to be torqued to 9-10 ft-lbs or 108-120 in-lbs. Note, that's 120 IN-lbs, if you accidently try 120 ft-lbs you'll definitely break one.

Also, there's been a lot of discussion regarding this in the Modification>Engine/Drivetrain/F-I forum with a number of suggestions being made. Make sure your engine is cold when you try to remove and re-tighten those bolts. Also tighten them in steps. For example, tighten them all to 30 in-lbs, then go thru them again tightening to 60 in-lbs then do the final tighten to 120 in-lbs.

better yet go to a fastener store, or some where that sells left handed drill bits, they work much better than extractors.

If you have the motordyne spacer with the internal supports you can torque them to 120in lbs easy.
If you have the AAM Angled spacer which dosent come with the internal supports torque then to 60 in lbs MAX!!! I tried 120 and cracked my plenum.
