Can the battery cause an SES light?

Can a dying battery cause an SES light? My SES light has come on after my old amp blew. I'm guessing its my battery since I haven't changed it in the 2 1/2 years I've had it. Thanks in advance!

my previous 02RSX had the same problem....dealer replaced the battery to reset the light......sometimes even a brand new battery will need to be replaced.
