Default Grease on the windows (Fix is in)

As a separate note. While chatting with the engineer the other day, I was told that the bulletin is written regarding the grease on the windows. It will be out soon and will be fixed. They want this fixed prior to the summer months -- they anticipate that the smear will get worse due to the heat.

Thanks for the info. I have been waiting on the fix before I tint the windows.

I have the grease on the window issue on my driver side inside the window. I was able to clearup the grease by myself.
I took hockey stick tape. Which is just cloth based tape. Created long strips of the tape where the smear was. I built the tape up at the main smear point and then had one long piece that covered the built up section so that when I rolled the window up and down it would be smooth at the start and finish of the tape. I rolled the window up and down several times. I took the tape off and used windex to clean the window and then sprayed findex on the inside window again leaving the spray on while I rolled the window up and down several more times. Then I cleaned off the window for the last time and the grease showed up no more.

Nice idea! Is there any way that could hurt the window motor?
(just being paranoid, can't hurt the baby!)

I think the only problem is that the roller you cleaned is picking up the grease from another part it touches. I have read some other posts that stated the dealer had cleaned the roller, only later to have the streak come back.

Is this official yet? For those of us that ordered our car (and it probably hasn't been built yet), did he say that they were implementing it on new cars, or is it something that the dealer will have to fix later?

Most dealer's service personnel are idiots. Please someone with good dealer contacts post a copy of the TSB when it becomes available.

Yes please post a copy of TSB when someone gets it. I used the TSB found on the boards here to get my Bose amp replaced..the techs hadn't even seen it.

Oh well, I guess until the TSB comes out, I'll just offer this advice:

He didn't state that since I was asked to be interviewed as to my likes and dislikes as well as problems with my car and in general.

How about going to the dealer? During my first oil change they fixed it up in about an hour. Let your warranty do the work, thats why they are there. Unless ghetto fixes are your thing...of course.

Let me resurrect this thread to ask if anyone actually has taken their car to the dealer to remove the grease that is tracking on the inside of the window.

If so, were you told that it eventually would disappear or, if there was a fix, was absorbent cloth tape used to clean the roller or did the door panel have to be removed?

As you can see, I'm debating what to do about the small, but very annoying, grease smear on my own window.

Monday I tried using cloth medical tape. It removed some but not all the grease. I even put alchohol on it.

I've got an appointment to have the Bose amp replaced. I intend to have them fix the grease problem too. I'll let you know how they did it.

Thanks!

I'll try medical tape, as well. It may be that several thicknesses will have to be used.

I asked the service guys just last weekend, and they said all the Zs theyve seen had it. and they tried to fix it on one, but something about the clearance inside the door being so small, when they fixed it the window rattled, so their waiting for a better solution from nissan.

This is exactly why I don't want the door panel removed.

Perhaps raising and lowering the window eventually will minimize the smear.

no it wasnt removing the door panel that cause the rattle. it was removing the grease that did. the glass rattled against the roller I think was what they were trying to say.
