Manual Transmission Questions
this comes from my riding yamaha R1 motorcycle but it didn't take too many tire changes to notice that downshifting took a lot of llife from the rear tire. makes sense if you think about it, you're using the engine to slow the vehicle which is doing so through the tires.
your joking right?
please tell me you joking.
just curious, but how do you think the brake slows you down? unless your saying engine braking only uses the rear tires while braking mainly uses fronts. but the tires on a car are not only twice as many, but their a bit meatier, I dont think tread life would be significantly differed with either method.

When you finally get your head patting and your tummy rubbing, rev matching is the way to go. It is so smooth it just blows me away. It took me a long time to retrain my car driving to do something I was taught to do on a motorcyle from the start.
Rev matching on decel can be as aggressive or benign as your upsifting on accel. If you have a jones to play GT racer (usually twice a day for me) then it just sounds damn cooler coming into the turn.
Clutch/blip/shift- clutch- brake to the apex and gas it hard out of the turn.
