Default Rhino ramps - Tall enough???

I would like to do the easy maintenance on my Z. ie oil & filter changes. Someone mentioned they used the Rhino ramps. I went to an auto store today & looked at them. The 'lift' doesn't seem very much - maybe 5 inches???? Is this really enough to get under there & get at the oil filter / drain plug?

your not gonna have tons of room, youll be flat on your back, and may not be comfortable having the car on top of you capable of crushing you. but it should work assuming you can clear the bumper with them.

Default Don't get tall ramps

I had tall ramps for years. Then when I got my most recent "low car" (firebird formula) I discovered that the ramps were too tall to fit under the front bumper! The bumper would hit the ramp long before the tire did.

I ended up giving them away and buying shallower ramps.

Default Thanks!

I'll pick up a pair today - they are only abt $30 - and give 'em a try. worst case, I'll put a couple of 2 x 12's under them to build up the height.
Thanks!

For $30 you could get a jack and jack stands at walmart. Then could also change tires or brakes or whatever in the future. Also most jack stands are adjustable. You might think about a jack and jack stands

Scafremon, it looks like you might have a slight dip in the concrete there. I had to make a slight extension to my ramps to get my car up on them (forwards).

I also have some jack stands (I used them in conjunction with the ramps to lift my car level to change the diff and tranny oil), but I definately prefer the ramps for general use.

There is a small step down from my garage to my driveway, which is where the car was for these pics. I tried them on the level garage floor, and it seemed to me they would work fine there, except that one was slipping out when I tried to pull car onto them. Maybe my bumper was hitting and pushing it??? I don't think it was, but I was by myself, and couldn't see exactly what was happening.

I'm almost ready for oil change #2, so I will try it again on level surface, and see what happens.
