as for the recall, I will be very hesitant to let my dealer touch that recall, after reading the fix, unless I see the leak myself. looks like way too much for them to screw up for a hose that "might" leak
I agree with you there. There is no way i'm taking my car in to Nissan for this job. They couldn't even do the "fuel door won't release" TSB without bending my door all out of whack.

You're welcome my friend, just got wind of this from a Z owner over on the Consumer Reports forum. I wonder if this includes roadsters or just hard tops...

Ouch. My VIN is included. Thought the days of TSB's and such were long behind me. Thanks for (re)posting. I had no idea and I somehow missed it, too. Haven't received anything from Nissan yet.

Yeah, that one made me scoff. What they say and what they actually do are two different things. I typically get the car back with the radio blaring some unknown station anyway.

To anyone that has had this done - did you require an alignment afterwards? If so, I might take my car in to have it done just to get an alignment.

+1....way too much stuff for them not to screw up. Sucks that we feel that way but good Nissan techs are hard to find.

This really PI$$ES me off. I just had my Z in for service on Feb. 14 and my VIN is in that range. The service guy said nothing about it. Thanks to the original poster for posting this up again.

This recall affects the 2004 Roadster too. My 2004 Touring Roadster is included in the recall VIN's.

I agree on the Repost issues. This is the first I've heard of it. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to go through all 17 million posts to see what has been posted before!!!!

Thanks for the REPOST

I'm so pissed with Nissan Service. I wouldn't be surprised if they denied this service to me. I'm going to press them hard this time.
I'm 99% sure that they have to do it for free even if it's out of warranty as it's a safety recall mandated by NHTSA.

Damn, I haven't been watching the boards so I didn't even know about it until I received the recall notice in the mail today. DAMN, I have to agree that's a LOT of work and lots of potential for error.

This sucks you would think nissan would have learned from from the maxima fuel filler recall the last time.

Don't knock all the Service Tech's...the dealership I go to has a fantastic crew. Especially when they see a Z...they always give that extra special effort in making the owner happy.

On the bright side this would be a good time to upgrade to the Nismo S-tune suspension and exhaust since they have to drop it anyways. If you buy the parts from the dealer doing the work they shouldn't charge for swaping them before they put the car back together. Any thoughts?

Recalls have to be done for free. Warranty not needed.

Does anyone know if there is a time-limit for having them fix this? 3 months? 6 months? Forever? I'm worried about them screwing up my Borla exhaust (among aother things) and am going to hold off on having this done if I can.

Good post.
Although I traded in mine for the 06, less headaches.

as far as I know, if its a recall you should be able to hold off for quite a while. its their screw up and if they actually did a recall and not just a TSB then it's probably something you should get done eventually. they will likely sent out the recall notices in waves to help control the amount of traffic going into the dealer, but I've never seen a time limit on these. recommendations yes. hell ford was still sending me recall notices which were released in 99/00 for my 95 mustang till last year. you could probably bring your Z in for the recall 5 yrs from now and they'd still do it for free.
