Default Squeaky clutch ------> Clutch plate

Well i just dropped off my 2003 350z at the dealership. I have about 34500 miles. For some reason my clutch was squeaking like crazy every time i depressed it. The service guy came out and pushed on it a few times and he said that it was stiffer than usual. We were about to test on a new clutch but all the cars on the lot were auto or locked . Anyways he said my clutch plate may be worn. WTF already?!?!?!?!?!?

If it comes to the point where I need a new clutch kit, anyone got suggestions on one that will last longer.

My service guy says the factory plate is super thin.

Thanks in advance

Was the squeeking noise coming from near the pedal assembly or could you hear it from inside the transmission? I had a squeeky pedal and took it to the dealer, just needed some lube/grease in the pedal assembly. Fixed it.

well if i listened closely i can hear it inside the car. but when i had my windows rolled down i can definetely hear it. i think it's from the assembly. what concerns me now is the fact that the service guy said the clutch felt harder than usual... :worried:

Could also be something in or near the master/slave cylinder assembly. Hopefully it is because it would probrably cost much less than if you had to get to the clutch plate, easier access too I think. Just my guess though. Good luck with this.

Check your clutch fluid reservoir and keep an eye on the fluid level over a few days.

WOW... I have the exact same thing happening. Squeaking like mad. I've WD40'd the hell out of it. It'll work for a couple days. Now it's unbearable. I hate driving.

I took it to the dealership, they just called me back and said I would need a new pedal. Uhhh... $230. I asked them why, they said, "Don't know, that's what he told me." I'm on the verge of going to the Lexus dealership and getting an IS350.

I had the same exact problem and the dealer replaced my clutch assembly AND TRANNY under warranty. However about 2 months later I got a bill for $136 which I am not paying. No matter what they tell you, unless you have no idea how to drive manual, the clutch should last way longer than 30k miles. I would have ahard time paying anything related to tranny/clutch on this car. I have a 95 Corolla with 140K miles and ORIGINAL CLUTCH! My 03 Z is on it's 3rd Tranny and clutch @ 29K miles and I think I'm having probelms again

Just got off the phone with Nissan Consumer Affairs - they said the clutch pedal assembly should be covered as part of the drivetrain, and therefore should be covered under the 5 year/60k mille drivetrain warranty. I gotta go yell at my dealer now. Good luck to anyone else.

i had the prob for a lil while but it went away. i saw a thread about using a little bit of wd40 to solve the problem. it's most likely gonna be it. in my scenario anyway.

I did that, trust me... I used WD40, Silicone, you name it... it would fix it for awhile, then it would come back. Eventually, the WD40 treatment lasts for about a day, and your car smells like crap all the time. It gets old.

I hate to say it, but I'm on the verge of buying an IS350 now.

FYI, if anyone is having this problem still. I found on some site that there was another person with this issue - they ended up spending some time and finding that there's this black spring that's kind of hard to see, behind the clutch pedal, and hitting that with WD40 or silicone. You'll probably want a flashlight and you'll want to spray it pretty well, both with the pedal depressed and not. I did it today, and its like brand new.

That was one of the most annoying nuisances I've ever had with a car. I should call the stealership and let them know that the $250 clutch assembly kit they were going to put in for me just got resolved with a $2 mini-can of wd40.

edit: I know this sounded like a major discovery on my behalf, but I've caked that whole assembly 10 times with wd40 and silicone, and it's never really helped until this time. hence the enthusiasm. in any case.... good luck.
