Throttle Sticking
Touring, 6MT, 4,000 miles. On two occasions I have had the throttle stick open at hard acceleration from a standing stop. This happened to me once at an auto X event and just recently driving around town. The accelerator sticks to the floor even when I lift my foot and it feels like the computer takes over because the engine revs but very little power gets to the rear wheels. No tire squeal. The revs finally go down and traction is established again but there is a nasty clutch smell. I love this car but this really freaks me out. Anyone else experienced anything similar?
indeed, a stuck throttle is VERY serious. bring it in to be checked out. your the first time Ive heard anything of the sort, so I wouldnt put it out of the question that you may have an isolated problem or just something wrong with your method on those instances. maybe foot got caught or your clutch foot was hitting it... I have no clue, Im sure you dont either or you wouldnt be asking.
but cust that it happened twice is enough to bring it in.

oh and by the way, you may have to be persistant, your pretty much gaurenteed that they wont be able to duplicate the problem... nor do you want them too... "uhhh yeah, the throtle sticks when I push it all the way", "ummm sure sir, let me go try that out..."
as he peels halfway down the block at full throttle.

Happened to me yesterday on my 05 and I can't find anything online except this.
No codes, nothing in the way of the pedal.
Shop can't recreate of course. I told them about the possibility of a PCV valve coming loose but that would have thrown a code.
Was stopping with my foot on brake only and the pedal started pulsing like antilock brakes.
I thought I was being rear ended at first. Throttle was WOT at 7k RPM, put it in neutral and shut off but I rear ended car in front of me.
Virtually no damage to their car but I'll need a new hood and radiator supports at minimum.
Anyone else had this issue? Reset TPS?

I've never heard of this on a Z33 before, the age of this thread shows how rare this is (Feb 2003). Being an electronic throttle system (100% fly-by-wire), I doubt a mechanical failure., This is more likely an electrical issue, either the potentiometer in the gas pedal is giving a false reading to the ECU, or there's a wiring fault at the throttle body, or between the pedal, ecu, and throttlebody. Very strange indeed, and very dangerous.
Do you have any kind of aftermarket mods on the engine or wiring? (aftermarket tune or boltons, mods like a pedal commander?)
What's the vehicle's history? (accidents, flood damage, salvage title, etc?)

No modifications. I’ve had the car for 12 years and put 100k miles on it in that time frame.
Wasn’t a salvage title but it looks like it was repaired with aftermarket body panels at some point before I got it.

If you have the tools/skills, I would start by validating your existing components are within spec (Ohm/resistance checks). For both the gas pedal and the throttle body. The test methodology and specs should be listed in the factory service manual (FSM).
If the components test good, then I would start inspecting the wire harness. For it to go 100k mi trouble free all these years without any mods, suggests this problem is age/wear related (either failing components, or wiring issues)
Things I would look out for would be corroded electrical connections and/or moisture intrusion. Check your body ground connections in the engine bay. Also closely inspect harness plugs for signs of green crusties.
Since this problem is intermittent and dangerous to re-create, it's going to be very challenging to isolate the root cause and guarantee a repair.
