Rubbed a hole in my A/C line....
One of my clamps on my Vortech intake tube rubbed a hole about the size of a pencil point. What would be the easiest way to fix this? Temporarily put duct tape on it? Take it to a shop to get it patched?
Thank for the suggestions.

Nope the system is bone dry. Only blows hot air. What $$ am I looking at to replace that line? I know that do have patch kits with ferroles. Not sure if I should just take it to a shop to fix. Just don't want it to cost an arm and a leg.
no, you can't just put duct tape on there. lol the high side sees 200-300 psi, the low side equalizes at around 70 psi. depending on which part of the line it is, replacing can be easy or a pain. look where the two connections are that you'll have to disconnect to remove that line. the common connections are a peanut fitting, a tube-o (nut inline with the tube), and a quick connect. peanuts and tube-o's are easy, quick connect you'll need a special tool to release it.
the actual line shouldn't be too expensive. if the connections are accessible it's not too hard to put the new line in. you might have to remove other engine components to remove and install though. don't forget to install all the o-rings either.
once you remove the line check to see if there's any oil in there. measure it in a measuring cup (by oz is fine), go to the shop and tell them to vacuum your system to check for leaks, add the amount of oil you found in the old part, and charge it with R134 according to the weight in your manual or underhood sticker.

Hey I Have The Exact Same Problem....my Intake Rubbed A Hole In The High Press Line... I Called Nissan And The Line Is 49 Dollars..but I Have No Idea How To Take The Old One Off..it Goes Into The Firewall Somewhere So I Dont Even Know Where To Disconnect It...hey Let Me Know If You Found A Solution Yet.
Im sure he was kidding about the tape ( I hope ) I have repaired them by brazing and by using compression fittings. Do it quickly or enough moisture will be pulled into the system to wipe out ur accumulator and thats MUCH more $$$$$$ s. When u vacuum, you remove the moisture from the system, but not from the Dryer/Accumulator

Hehe, you guys need to look at the dates! I bought the said Vortech from Matt last July, and I have since sold it to someone else, along with the car. Seeing Matt's problem, I wrapped the A/C line in some 5/32" rubber tubing to avoid this. Was kind of a pain, but I didnt worry about rubbing any holes.
